No need to apologise. I spend a good bit of time in my second home i.e. Mayo.

Chelsea - Southampton and Man U - Spurs next weekend and Liverpool - Man U the following weekend. Liverpool also have Swansea next Monday.

Whatever happens tonight, the next two games against West Ham and Newcastle and the results of the fixtures above may define Arsenal’s season more than the result tonight.

(Not just saying that to get the excuses in early)

Staying out of the match thread because it is already trawling the depths. No idea how to call tonight. Statistically we have to be in line for a win there. If we score early at least it will make for a more interesting game for all watching it because we already know how Van Gaal is going to set them up.

I passionately hate Man Utd more than any other team on this planet. After what happened at the Emirates, we need to get revenge on them.

Went into the match thread for a look. Immediately regretted going into the match thread for a look.

The posters there don't seem to understand that a lot of us reckon we're a much better side on paper but somehow always manage to bottle in against United. It's impossible to make that point in there though without someone posting a thanks whoring comment for the rest of them to hop onto.

Heading out with a few Man Utd mates for this tonight. Should be a great craic to be fair.

2 of them are heading over to Cheltenham tomorrow so its session on tonight!!!

I don't know why people get annoyed or bite in match threads you can generally see who is up to what with regards wums.

I only use them when I am out to keep an eye on the score, or if something controversial happens in again, I would just completely ignore the posts that are there to stir a reaction.

Looking forward to tonight, games like this are what its all about.

Hard not to be excited, I hate and love when we play United in equal amounts.

Agreed, our best match threads are the ones where it's mostly Arsenal fans discussing the game so as not to clutter this thread. The arguing and 'banter' isn't the same as it with friends IRL in my experience.

Too right and despite the misery record you just know at some point it has to break if even only for that game!

Yep I'll be on a group whatsapp later with a few and its good fun, take the WUM and the banter away and the games loses a lot of its appeal. Nothing better than dropping into the match thread if we've came out of the game alright :pac::pac:

Would fancy United for the win tonight. Even in these post Ferguson days they seem to have the edge over Arsenal.

Arsenal could perform tonight but history wouldn't suggest it. United have taken seven points from nine in the meetings since they've been reborn as a shadow of their former selves. It hurts because the last eighteen months have been a golden, maybe once in a generation, opportunity to deliver a humbling defeat. All the other rivals have got at least one solid win out of them in this time. I respect United as a club, but I do hate them. It's a bitter pill to see Arsenal fail against them.

United always seem to raise their game, some muscle memories of the previous boss won't let them be beaten by this flaky shower. Rooney has a tendency to play like a man possessed against Arsenal. Arsenal always under perform. United have been crap this year but they were arguably in worse form last year at the time they beat Arsenal fair and square at Old Trafford.

I'm hoping for a decent result but not expecting it. A bad defeat could have a psychological hangover, a positive result could be a good primer for the rest of the season.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil, Alexis Welbeck

    No Giroud??

Disgraceful team choice. No balance in the middle and we look short for set pieces against this wannabe Stoke outfit. hopefully im wrong but very bad feeling about this.

Corners for them will be a minefield for us.

No Ramsey or Giroud means wenger is up to something.

Would rather have seen Ramsey get a run out and maybe rest Santi or the Ox. No Giroud either is a strange one, but would be class to see Welbeck bag a goal against his old club.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,462 ✭✭✭✭WoollyRedHat

Good to see Monreal back from injury.

The only thing I can think of in terms of Ramsey being left out is he isn't fit enough to start.

That team both excites me and terrifies me in equal measure.
