Sonar Entertainment will develop Stephen King’s bestselling novel Mr. Mercedes as a limited series for television. David E. Kelley (Boston Legal, Ally McBeal, The Practice) is attached to write the script and Jack Bender (Lost) will direct. Both will also serve as executive producers, as will Temple Hill Entertainment’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey and Sonar Entertainment CEO Gene Stein.

Mr. Mercedes, which King describes as his first hard-boiled detective tale, was published by Scribner in June. The story focuses on a psychopathic killer who commits mass murder by driving his Mercedes into a crowd and the recently retired cop who makes it his mission to bring him down. Mr. Mercedes is the first of a projected trilogy. The second novel, Finders Keepers, will be published by Scribner in May of this year.
“This is an amazing opportunity to adapt a script from material penned by one of the world’s most acclaimed and accomplished authors,” said Kelley. “Mr. Mercedes is a great story that will translate beautifully to the screen if I don’t mess it up.”

24.....without Jack Bauer. Fox is mulling over the possibility of a new, one off, limited series installment of the show that would not feature Bauer.

The network has been pitched a followup to last summer’s 24: Live Another Day that may or may not feature 24 signature star Kiefer Sutherland.

“Potentially, he won’t be in this installment, we’re not sure yet,” Walden said. She stressed that there is no plan to permanently drop Jack Bauer from future seasons of 24. “We’re talking about whether there’s one installment that he’s not in.”

FOX Is Planning an X-Men Television Show
FOX has confirmed that they're developing a TV series set in the X-Men universe, TV Insider reports.

Fox entertainment co-chairman Gary Newman is reportedly their source, saying that negotiations with Marvel, who have to sign off on the project, have slowed the process.

"It's in negotiations," Newman said. "We're cautiously optimistic, we had a good meeting with them. That will not be on a fast track creatively. This is just the deal, now we have to find the creative."

Laverne Cox has been cast in the CBS drama pilot Doubt.
The Orange Is the New Black star became the first openly transgender actor to earn an Emmy nomination for her role in the Netflix series. Now her role in Doubt will also make her the first transgender series regular on a broadcast show played by a transgender actress (if CBS picks up the pilot to series).

From Grey's Anatomy executive producers Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, Doubt is about a yet-to-be-cast defense lawyer who gets romantically involved with one of her clients who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime. Cox will co-star as Cameron Wirth, a competitive but compassionate Ivy League-educated attorney whose own experiences of injustice make her fight that much harder for her clients.

I think this thread is a bit lost as a sticky (I'm not sure that people even see it).
I'm going to unstick it for a while and see if that helps.

There is a subtle difference. Shows in this thread are often pre-casting, pre-production etc.
Often they are just signatures on a piece of paper and may still be years away from appearing (if ever).

The other thread is for actual shows that exist.
