    Hi,

I am in the market for a double tuner box, and the VU Solo 2 clones have caught my interest. Can be got for around €125 delivered via courier on Aliexpress.

I have not seen any reviews for them anywhere. Anyone know anything about them?

Apparently there are 2+ different versions of the clone.

I have a Dreambox DM500s clone running for 3 years with no problems at all.

Are the VU clones reliable at all I wonder? And is there any site that sells reliable clones?

@davidom2513 i would buy a original box if you can 300 euro in dublin .And you don,t have to worry about clones timebomb drivers bricking your box and you can use all the latest images without worrying {kids}.

And with all the major image teams usein xbmc/Kodi beta in there images now it.s going to be money well spent long term .
And theres the vu+zero for around 150 aswell original not as powerful as the solo2 but has plenty flash space and support . and with vu+ attacks on clone boxes i would try go for original first regardless of what the clone sellers tell you .

But it.s your money and your choice at the end of the day as your the one going to be useing the box.

I'd imagine it's so that he will have two terrestrial tuners then, as well as the existing two satellite tuners. Particularly handy for PVR purposes.

    @AngryDiMaria

The thread starter was asking about solo2s and there,s nothing in the thread or reply about Duo 2s going for 300 euros you must have mistaken this .

I can confirm{ as a buyer }of a solo2 original at swords satellite 300 euro which i have stated in the solo2 thread on here a while back .

And if there was a duo2 original new ever going for 300 euro in dublin or lreland it would have been sold at a loss or it,s a clone for sure .

Is the performance of the usb tuner just like an internal tuner ?

I used to use a usb tuner on a Dm800 and the performance was pretty flakey

Regarding the op there are alot of possible options at different price points.

The lowest would be the Z-Gemma Star receiver ,its very similar in spec to the Xpeed LX2 .
750Mhz cpu,256Mb of Flash and 512Mb of ram.
Its a twin tuner and is officially supported by Openatv .
Its ~105 euro delivered from China but may have customs.
The Xpeed LX2 is 165 euro inc delivery from Germany, again supported by Openatv amongst others.

Gigablue have a few twin tuners the 800se and ue plus ,similar spec to the LX2 ~185 and 205 euro respectively.

The Alien 2 is also an option ,140 euro for a triple tuner and whilst its not a broadcom based chipset, the sh4 images are reliable .
Cpu is 450mhz but only 128Mb flash and 128Mb Ram.

The next tier of receivers are the 1.3Ghz cpu's with more Ram ,1Gb .
    Included amongst these are the
    Vu Solo 2 ,300 euro
    Technomate Nano 3T ,~270 euro
    Gigablue Quad ~290 euro
    Edision Optimuss Os2 plus ~225

All of these receivers are very similar in spec and performance .

The Solo 2 clone you mentioned is the VU SOLO2 SE i'd say.
Its basically the Solo 2 shrunk into the housing of a Dreambox 800 .
The performance is meant to be identical to the Solo 2 but the images have to be patched due to timebombs and counter clone measures .
The only image group that put timebombs in the 500s clones were the Gemini group I believe so easily avoided unlike the Vu+ Clone issues.
The remote controls on the Solo 2 Se are also rubbish ,you'd probably have to buy an original.

Is the 100 euro you will save worth it over the Edision ,its debatable.
If anything goes wrong you will have to send it back to China at your cost but it may also be trouble free .
