Nearly every player at United has been poor in fairness.

Exactly, therefore no player should be above criticism.

This is where I struggle with the 'best in world' tag.

How many of the other best players in the world could you imagine struggling so much and being so ineffective immediately after what has been hailed as their best season ever.

    Thats not my point.

My point is people think we could have done better.

Every one of them. One player does not a team make.

Di Maria is not the only player who is under performing, Rooney, Mata, RVP, Falcao - all supreme attacking players in their own right, are all horribly off form.

that surely, has to be down to team set up and managerial responsibility.

you could arguably say that apart from De Gea, Rojo and Smalling and possibly Blind, the entire squad is playing a level below their ability, some like Di Maria and Falcao 2 + levels below.

you could perhaps put Herrera in with them, but LVG hasnt played him that much.

I just think the players are restricted within the system, the players we have are all flare players that can turn a game on its head in an instant yet NONE of them seem to be allowed to express it on the pitch. It's like this posession has sucked the living life out of them.

I would really love to see Carrick partner Rojo in defence with blind/fellanai and herrera in the middle and a front 4 of Rooney, Mata, Young (on current form) Di Maria, and just let carrick supply the ball quickly to our front 4 instead of this 20 passes across the back and middle before it gets to them.

I really think we should be playing something similar to what Liverpool played last year, **** possession, get the ball to the front 4 quickly and sit back and let them do their thing.

Sorry about the spelling in this, am on the phone

a joy watching the barca city game last night, messi, iniesta, aguero pure class last night, aguero is probably my favourite non united player playing in the premier league, skill, balance, work rate, guts, determination, technique, brilliant

with blind/fellanai and herrera in the middle

at risk of repeating what ive been saying since August, but Daley Blind is not good enough to be top level CM for us. he is decent on the ball, but its "tom cleverly at a higher" level decent in terms of its just possession, sideways/backwards or long balls forward.

Blind/Fellaini are two of the slowest players in the premier league - to have them as the mainstay of our midfield sums up our problems IMO. great squad players to have, but not first 11 midfielders.

if we are to progress to a new level in the league and Europe, we need to sign a new midfielder. seen as LVG seems to think its in the Rooney mould, perhaps we actually need two - one creative and one holding.

at the momemt, weve plenty of possession but are doing f*ck all with it. we need to get Nani back and playing at 2011 levels also.

At the very least it shows what a team with high % possesion stats should look like .

Copied and pasted from football manager id say.

    Probably ended 2-2

Maybe Louis should play a few games so he can run his experiments without burying a football club.

Good interview with Ander Herrera here courtesy of M.E.N. He comes across really well in it and evidently loves the club.

My point at end if day is that we have a wonderful player in Di Maria.

A CL winner and World Cup finalist and huge in both, but yet we are talking about him as if we could have done better.

We bought one of best players in world. End of.

"World class player has dip in form shocker".

While Di Maria has struggled lately, he had an impressive start that got scuppled by two injuries, and has some serious pedigree behind him. Neverminding the fact he is in a new country, team ,language, all that stuff.

He's getting A LOT of faith from LVG and never being dropped. Hopefully serves him well during both the run in, but most importantly next season, where last night on the positivity couch I accepted all this season is preparation for that dirty little title challenge we are going to have next year :D

Regardless of how good he has been in the past, we've paid 60 million for him and he's obeen terrible so far for us. Whatever about his poor performances there's no excuse for poor work rate. He really needs to toughen up to make it in the premier league. So far he's been getting knocked off the ball all too easy.

Guess how many players have more assists then him in the league?

It's kind of funny that nobody actually knew the type of player Di Maria was before he moved to United. Probably thought they were getting a Robben or Bale style player but got someone who is more of a creator.

And as everyone knows United fans hate those type of players...

Coming from Spain and dealing with his first British winter is another consideration!

in fairness, Id say 4 or 5 of his "assists" have been poor shots re-directed goalwards

He got another assist against Swansea, what was his performance like though?

(and just let carrick supply the ball quickly to our front 4) He has never supplied ball quickly to anyone before, he noticeably slows the game down infact. But i get the idea of having him at the back to play the ball out as opposed to the anywhere will do attitude.

I am certain I drew comparisons to a certain loanee's style of play and how it wouldn't take long till people became frustrated b Di Maria either once they saw him week in week out, course it doesn't mean he isn't a top class player. He is.

If we had offered Barcelona the 97m we paid for Mata and Di-Maria for Fabregas and Sanchez we would have been much better off.

They would have snapped our hands off too because they both went in the end for a combined 65m

easy say that now, if di maria had joined arsenal and sanchez joined United we would probably be all raving about di maria at arsenal. Our style of play at this moment wouldn't suit any of the best players in the world

I can't prove it now but I would always have preferred Sanchez over Di Maria , I wanted him at Udinese and was pissed off we didn't get him when Ronaldo left , he still scored 20 goals last season for barca , he's a tough little fecker too , well suited to the premier league . Di Maria is good too but never had the goals return a bale robben , Reus or bale would provide , he's most def playing below his usual standards for United but I believe his season for Real last year was a freak year for him also

Not necessarily , Ozil joined Arsenal 2 years ago and we aren't raving about him
