it's amazing how different the shots look on my work laptop (a lenovo) and my home monitor (a ten or fifteen year old behemoth, 22" trinitron).

I've never been happy with my version of this, there's a photo in there some where but I just can't get it right.
A bit of help would be appreciated.

I normally don't crop my own photos, nor will I clone out elements. But this isn't my own photo and I feel it was needed.

    Cropped to a 3:2 ratio
Lines on the horizontal and vertical have been straightened.
That unsightly thing covering the gold patterned design on the side of the photo has been replaced to add more symmetry.

I've been away from the internet for a few days and I'm delighted to see this thread still going. Some amazing photos for editing. I'm looking forward to having a go. One question, can anyone enlighten me as to how I can upload a photo to boards and make it visible without necessitating Flickr of pix.ie... Thanks all

    This is what I do;

    - Edit image (I then save the PSD file)
    - Save as Jpeg, resized to 800 pixels on long side.
    - Select "Go Advanced" under the reply box.
    - Click Manage Attachments.
    - Select image and upload.
    - When image is uploaded, click on the link and copy link location (Mac)
    - Click the insert image icon at the top box and paste the link.

do you use dropbox? you can mark files as publically available if you want; that's how i did it.

i usually edit most of my pics the same way, so just applied what i do to my own pics…
adjusted WB, darken/lighten centre in nik fx, ran a detail enhancer action i have in photoshop, threw on a mask and made it so only his face was under the detail enhancer action, then ran one of my curve actions over it.. cropped & saved :pac:

Can you give a little more info on the detail enhancer action? I think that's done wonders.

A very nice file to work with :)

Tried to keep it as natural as I could while making it as sharp as I could.

A word of warning. Putting up RAW files mean that one proof of image ownership is lost. Someone else could use an image and show proof it's their as they have the RAW data.

    This thread is a great idea, I'm out of practice editing-wise so it's a little over-cooked! :o

had a lot of trouble getting those raw files open! tried a dng convertor.. only worked for one. then had to download some raw update for aperture, and then export to photoshop. got there in the end!!
