I'd take Bale over Ronny at this moment.

Bring Ronaldo home.... Fear factor back at United, lots of jerseys sales and most importantly silverware.

I agree. Bale is more of a team player, plus he's a good bit younger.

age yes but with ronaldo's physique he will easily play top level until he is mid 30's. and bale more of a team player why would you say that? his nickname in spain now is "ball-hog" because he doesnt pass the ball

just add ronaldo has 2nd highest amount of assists in spain with 10, bale has 5

It'd be madness to pay a world record fee for Ronaldo. You might get 2 years out of him before his pace starts to seriously diminish, than he'll have to adapt his game as a CF most likely playing with his back to goal. He's never been truly tested doing this and there is no guarantee he'll flourish at the same level as before. If you could get Bale for similar money it's a no brainer really, the rest is just nostalgia clouding judgement.

I managed to speak with Brian Cody recently at a seminar. Lovely man and an absolute legend as a manager.

One of the most important things he said that was needed for a successful team was having the fundamental structure right.

Statistics can be overused and sometimes don't tell an accurate story. Rightly or wrongly, it looks like LVG is focusing on his system/structure above everything which is sort of what Cody was saying. LVG team will succeed or fail based on his system which seems to be a trait shared by many top coaches.

Having the players on board is obviously important, but if this season was all about setting the groundwork for success, I think we could remarkable improvements in the team play as the system becomes more natural to the players.

Unfortunately, its horrible to watch united play and on paper there are at least 5 league games where united WILL drop points if they don't improve. But if we can scrap a top 4, I genuinely think we will see a different team playing next season.

Off topic post, but where did you meet Cody, Drumpot?

if we were offered ronaldo for 90m this summer i would take him. falcao 43m or ronaldo 90? ronaldo nearly plays as a no9 now and has done last 2 years, he is no longer the winger that used to play for us, he has developed more into a goalscorer. with the money from adidas, sky tv deal who says we cant sign ronaldo this summer and bale next summer :)

Ronnie may be aging but that doesn't mean he isn't still the guy who has been a constant presence in the Ballon D'or, and I think any price is good to get a player of his caliber. Would adore if we got him.

Would like Bale too, mind. If either or both are available, we should be going after them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,579 ✭✭✭MythicalMadMan

Ronnie will really have to be forced out of madrid if he is to leave, the man is all about being the best he can be but also to set records and pick up Ballon Dors. He will want to set the record of goals at Madrid too and in the Champions league.

As much as he might say he loves united he loves himself more and fair play to him if he returns to us this summer he will have to be forced out imo.

Bar a serious injury I think he will play at a high level for many more years though

Also there's little left of the Manchester United he loved, the players are different, the staff are different, the league table is different, and perhaps most importantly, the manager is different.

    ronaldo another goal...

Although with Ronaldos ariel ability we might have the dream Partnership in himself and fellaini 8 men in our own half hoofing the ball up to the two of them...
Tika-Hoofa we could realistically win 3 in a row champions leagues :pac:

I always find the most interesting parts of your fantasy line ups are the players you choose to keep, given seemingly unlimited budget.

I like to think your fantasy XI's is like a hard drug you can't get enough of and I like that

I feel sorry for Bale. He's forced to play in Ronaldo all the time. In his spurs day, he would go by himself

I'd love if you stopped basing opinions on one performance by a player or by a team. Football is such that you dont perform at 100% of your capability every game. There are just so many variables that effect everything most fans are bad but you are particularly bad.
You also tend to err on the negative where someone can play bad in one half and well in the 2nd and you'll say they had a bad game.

You need to relax a bit and accept football isnt solved its a highly variable game which is what makes it such a great game in many ways.

here i would love if we signed bale more than anyone, but he was shocking tonight thats all i said. I watch a lot of spanish football, and this season he looks half the player he is. the pressure of the madrid fans has finally taken its toll. he could be looking for a way out this summer

But that is still conjecture on your part, I cant comment on how he has been this season as I havent seen him enough but players can have bad seasons for a variety of reasons and maybe you are right but maybe he is just having a below par season.

You called out a poster saying u hope them wanting Bale isnt based on tonights performance and then you say you'd love him signed.

Your posting can be a bit confusing at time if I'm being honest.

Your posting style can be a bit in your face and sensationalist, i don't mind it to be honest but it can make for hard reading in the thread.

Ya the lads commented earlier on it. the team have won 10 million games in a row at home and the pitch is at 48,000 feet

Apparently its regular enough occurrence being serious
