Premier League announcing TV deal for 2016-19 at 5pm! Interesting times for the entire league.

    yea....££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££

looks like a 4.4 BILLION pound deal.... You will see a lot more Glen Johnson/Ashley young type players on well over 100k a week now and a league that is moving further and further away from the common football fan

In fairness, at this stage that's like saying Pluto is moving further and further away from my house.

Starting to sound like the beginning of the end for LVG, reminds me of Rafa's rant. Seems the pressure is really starting to tell. We are arguably playing worse football than last season.

He'll be grand as long as he keeps getting results and finishes in the Top 4.

Possibly but as I said it's starting to sound that way. Only time will tell. It's getting embarrassing.

The last time we let in more than one goal in a game was against West Brom in October.

I know we could be playing a lot better but that isn't bad going at all.

There's so much extremely positive stuff going on for United I find it hard to take this thread seriously.

There are a lot of people whose "views" I honestly can't give any credit for being genuine.

absolutely pathetic from van Gaal to have them stats of the west ham game in his pocket waiting for someone to question him on it and then pull them out like some sort of magician....

Remember fergie and his mind games against Wenger, Rafa, Keegan, etc top managers at the time all battling it out for the league title and here we have our manager now answering back to Big Sam of West Ham united!!

I played for United in a CL final.

    Stretford United?
    Carlow League?

    :pac:

We are grinding out wins and draws that just weren't happening last season. The football is absolute sh*te but if it gets top 4 I don't care, there has to be a style that the team is striving towards though and that just isn't evident at the moment.

The next transfer window is going to make or break the club, I do think van Gaal will get it right in the Summer; he has to know by now what he needs to change but missing out on top 4 might scupper those plans in one way or another.

More hyperbolic nonsense from you, totally par for the course and expected though.

What Louis said actually makes perfect sense if you read it or watch it.

I'd be more concerned about the success rate of the forward passes than anything.

At the moment it's just Tyson and Bangkok spluttering out hyperbole of embarrassment and literally taking everything in the media literally.

Hang on a minute, it's downright weird for any manager to be so caught up with either another manager taking the píss, or be so concerned with press stories, as to go to the lengths of actually designing, printing and handing out a pamphlet to the press making counterpoints to criticism.

It's a step further than Rafa went with his handwritten "fachts".

Very amateur-hour and deserving of ridicule.

no im actually watching the games and see what is going on or whats not going on. We have been absolutely terrible to watch this season and that's being kind to the team

Exactly and its not like its mourinho or pelligrini we are talking about, a team competing for the title, its big f**king sam of west ham united and he was only being tongue in cheek as well!!

What's the is about van Gaal producing some list of stats in the west ham game? Any link to the press conference ? Media might starting to turn on him now would be interesting to see the line of questioning.

So when Sam does it, it's trolling and tongue in cheek.

When lvg does it, it's embarrassing and pathetic.

    Right.

    Right.

he is manager of Manchester united!!

big sam always gets stick about being a long ball team, no matter who he is over, that was the whole point

    100% correct

LVG arrived to the presser with a pre-prepared pamphlet, one for everyone in the audience, pointing out how United aren't "Long Ball".

It's weird and funny, and on a par with, or in fact, worse than, the time when Rafa Benitez produced a handwritten list of "fachts".

Bizarre behaviour, that some people are getting silly about defending or saying he was somehow right to carry on like that.

It's the same weirdness and "the club I support can do no wrong, not it's manager, players or fans" attitude that is so prevalent around here.

It is a stupid thing to do, and shows the club in a downright bad light. He shouldn't be allowing this kind of thing to get under his skin.

Don't remember Sam handing out pamphlets in pressers

    Again, 100% correct.

Anyone deigning to defend the behaviour is being more than a little bit precious.

I feel this is the sort of thing that if we were doing better, some people would be laughing at in a "Haha, he's such a brilliant weirdo" way. I personally think it's kind of funny, not in an embarrassing way at all.

Judging by the online/media reaction Nigel Pearson will be sending LVG a hamper.

In fairness I'd say this is more eccentric Van Gaal than losing the plot/feeling the pressure Van Gaal.

Worth remembering that in Holland,Spain and Germany the press are more interested in discussing tactics and actual football stuff. The British press can be very gossipy and sometimes appear more interested in possible feuds or contraversy then actual football details.

I recall from a book read on Van Gaal how he frequently would discuss tactics in depth with press abroad, and on occasions brought in even whiteboards to draw stuff out.

Sure he gave a presentation last year to a Dutch university where he went into his tactics with Holland in depth. Really good watch by the way.

I'd put this down to more eccentric Van Gaal then pressure.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,638 ✭✭✭✭bangkok

you would also think that he would be more concerned about his team for Burnley and getting that correct rather than worrying what big sam said about van gaals long balls :D
