    Haha that's a picture alright :D
Magill makes sense, I just got to piece in 'physiological systems' into the jigsaw of my very incomplete knowledge now! Thank you!!

Nice session, re running the session too hard - I'm not sure you did because you had good recoveries between reps and the number of reps was relatively small.

If you stayed reasonably comfortable throughout the reps ( as in not gasping for air on each one) then you're probably spot on *

    * what I mean is, we won't know how productive or otherwise these were until after the weekend :-)

Thanks for that :) The first k, I honestly thought I was only hitting 5mile pace or slower (so pace judgement still needs some work!) and as they progressed down the distance I used that as a benchmark to quicken my cadence. It was tough but didn't't really die a death until the last rep.

And I see you are encouraging the shenanigans but we can discount this session surely due to the 'session + 7-10 days for benefit rule'?! :p
    But thanks Duanington :)

    Lwtd:

    Mon 2 Feb

    rest, running

Evening 2xsets core, 1x Myrtl and gen strength etc (1 hour, go me :D)

    Tue 3 Feb

    2x1k 2x800 2x600 2x400
    As reported, 10 miles

    Wed 4 Feb

5 mile rec run, not too bad. Some of yesterday in legs but not too bad.
Eve: DS core, 1 set (moved to x15 reps) and hip strength etc no Myrtl as 10:30pm...

    Thur 5 Feb

PM: Club session/easy run: extra two miles easy before set out.* Easy long warm up before 5x100m+ form hill sprints at 85% effort taxing but not lactic or breathless.
    11.7k/7.25 T

*This has really not been a good week with dogs. I took the long way round to the club session and crossed over the (dark) football fields. Half way across, I came up behind a man and a dog. A fine looking Alsatian dog...I slowed and sized up the beast. All good. The beast sized up me (the hairy one that is). Still all good. I jogged around the human whereupon doggy dear decided I was NOT all good and bounded towards me growling, barking and snarling. I kid you not. I backed off, slowly but surely. Yeah yeah I KNOW the advice is not to do that but you try not to retreat when faced by a large growling menacing mutt :o The owner had...let's say difficulty...regaining control of his furry friend. It took three or four attempts and I have to say I was not happy! I did actually stand my ground for a few secs but the fecking thing came even closer! At this stage it could probably gulp back the fear in the air...
Anyway owner got the doggy "she's only a puppy..." under control. And we parted on quite good terms I thought for what was a particularly fraught few hours moments. I left him with the advice that "really, you've GOT to keep her on a lead til she's fully trained..." And started to jog only when 30 yards away and with assurances that she was firmly held :D

    Fri 6 Feb
5 miles easy, started off fresh enough but pre-race sluggishness hit about two miles in so cut the planned 10k short. Wasn't worried about tiredness, it's just no fun dragging mutinous legs farther than they want to go. Bit like a dog not used to a leash.
Returned home and launched nearly straight into an hour of Myrtl, general strengthening and dark side core stuff. Nearly got the side-planky hip raise thing to 15 without wobbling or collapsing :D Press ups still pathetic, I have reverted to the girly knee ones I was taught in school a loooong time ago.

    Sat 7 Feb
Rest planned with thorough Achilles stretching and releasing etc. Ah c'mon now, it wouldn't be pre-race week without a bit of sand bagging :p:D
    Now where's that pre-race wine....

Good luck everybody racing Sunday this weekend, wherever it is :)

good woman, several bottles of wine before the race, that should do it...

(I'm sure you could have outrun that pesky Alsatian... although you don't want to mess with them)

I think there would be no sand bagging needed had I attempted that  I did however crack open a nice chocolatey red when I got home and cooled down :)

I got that line before when a HOUND jumped up on me out running and the owner insisted I was over-reacting (the dog was at least my size, possibly bigger and what it lacked in brains it more than made up for in slobbery affection). I'm not 100% on the law but I'm pretty sure if I sent Bungy Jr. up to random strangers to hug/squeeze/talk them to death, there would be consequences so why not dogs too ?!

Best of luck tomorrow, may the odds be ever in your favour ;)

Over-reacting?? ?OVER-REACTING?? And yes, maybe we should send BG jnr round the parks to give dog walkers a taste of their own medicine :D

Have a good one yourself too :)

Just checked the 5 Day Forecast online. Had to double check it was working because it was showing no cloud or precipitation up until late on Wednesday night when a spot of cloud might appear. A check on temperature shows the app is working, all too well....it is going to be fer-eee-zing tomorrow  brrrrrr

Best of luck tomorrow DG! Tear up the roads.

Enniscorthy 10k 2015: Chip time 42:13. Outside mcmillan prediction but overall I am very happy with the outcome. Crossing the finish line was a guaranteed PB. It's a tough course :) Well done to the stable and well done Dark Horse aka MKDTH. Great to meet you all (except for BON aka The Quiet Man who did a disappearing act...). Having a bit of a hypo-glycemic tremble, despite the great spread so race report later :D

Aaah lack of food getting to me...third scorer on THE WINNING LADIES TEAM, SENIORS NOT MASTERS :D:D:D

Stumbled across this log and glad I did. I haven't read it all but it's entertaining on a number of fronts and some impressive performances. Keep up the good work. Some very similar targets to my own too so will be following with interest.
