I just don't know if i would trust giving LVG a big war chest. I don't think he is getting the best out of the players he has. He is putting players out of position to get them on the field and it's just not coming together.

I mean Di Maria up front
    Rooney cm
    Valencia rb
    Young lb

So this is it, we're supposed to keep changing managers every year until we get a manager that has us playing decent football for a short period of time?

I'm in agreement that the football hasn't been great this season and it isn't the United way of playing. But unfortunately, the only objective we have this season is to finish in the top 4 by whatever means possible. And despite some of the incredibly wacky lineups - a lot of which I don't agree with - we're still getting results. We're still dominating possession in games which despite not being the most aesthetically pleasing is limiting the sides we're playing from creating chances.

Our only option at the end of this season is to give LVG money to build the squad further and hopefully as a result the play will improve. If you look at the sides he's had throughout his career they have been just as good to watch as any out there so there's no reason this club has to be different.

It's £45m that he would cost from what I remember. Last summer (according to transfermarkt) we spent £108m net, so 45m would represent nearly half of our largest ever summer spend. When we start spending 200m consistently every year then I'll start to agree with you, but right now I think you're jumping the gun a bit.

I dont think that will happen at least not for a very long time and I dont think I'm jumping the gun either. As i said earlier lets spend the money to improve the squad but no player being bought should inhibit it. 45 sterling is obv a lot more currently than €40 euro stated from earlier but not to drag this out im happy to spend whatever once its not to the detriment of the squad or club.

Might be handy for anyone going to the Spurs game.

57 years ago since the darkest day in our clubs proud history...

Take a moment today to remember our dearly departed and fondly remembered players and club staff who passed away on that day

Gone but never forgotten and forever in our hearts

Going to try and give this another watch over the next 24 hours for the day that's in it. The BBC's United.

It isn't 100% historically accurate and their portrayal of Sir Matt Busby is caricature-like, but it is still a great production and a definite recommendation for all fans of our club...

    United’s flag is deepest red
It shrouded all our Munich dead
Before their limbs grew stiff and cold
    Their heart’s blood dyed it’s ev’ry fold
    Then raise United’s banner high
Beneath it’s shade we’ll live and die
So keep the faith and never fear

We’ll keep the Red Flag flying here
We’ll never die, we’ll never die
We’ll never die, we’ll never die
We’ll keep the Red flag flying high
‘Cos Man United will never die

    I love my club.

This video means so much to me in February every year, i can't explain why. I've no personal connection to anyone that perished, but it's something that has come to mean so much to me.

    Great pic and catchphrase.
I'd say Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini and Mata have all been more creative then him myself.

Yeah, they probably have, I'm just caught up in my appreciation for him this weather.

I don't remember him having a bad game so far this season and I've been very impressed with him and Rojo.

All the talk is about Di Maria and Herrera, yet Blind just goes about his game doing the simple thing right.

I wouldn't say Herrera has played enough games to be more creative - hard to be creative from the bench! Also don't remember Fellaini doing all that much creatively. I don't class knock downs or simple passes creative. Do think he had a nice pass to rooney for a counter attack goal recently though.

how much do ye reckon we will sell hernandez for in the summer? I would love if we could get 12-15m for him as he will be sold

The way I see it, simple passes that drag the opposition around and start or keep the team moving in the right areas of the pitch are just as creative as the eye catching final few passes that lead to a shot. For all the games that Blind has played he has done feck all of that.

Don't think we'll get that much tbh, will have one year left when he returns in the Summer and he won't have played a lot of football in ~3 seasons.

Anything over 7m is a bonus to be honest.

Aside from Ronaldo, United haven't got any value in selling players.

I hope levy comes calling for him, then we can really put the price up, payback for Berbatov, the price quoted for Modric and the 100m we bid on bale

I would think Blind does a lot of passes that keep the ball and play moving.

For me a creative pass is one that finds a runner in space or unlocks a defence. So I don't see all assists for goals as being creative, for example, as it could be a simple pass to the guy beside you who then cracks it in from 30yards. Or a miss hit shot that gets poked in (Di Maria 'assist' for Mata). At the same time not all creative passes are an assist, or directly create a chance either. Blind's lovely pass to Wilson down the right channel before wilson crossed for Falcao (defender nicking it out of stride) was what I would class as a creative pass.

It ties into an issue I had with Rooney last season when I was arguing he wasn't creative enough for the number 10 spot while people were using his assit record to dismiss my argument. I felt most of his assists came from set piece delivery or crosses into the area - i don't feel set piece crosses or crossing in general is creative - unless you are picking out a specific runner with a very difficult cross.

I suppose it is all down to how you interpret 'creative' yourself. Blind can be creative, obviously (pass for RVP goal at the weekend and vs Spain, mentioned pass to wilson) but I do feel he is a bit too cautious so far.

In terms of who I would rank in creativity (potential rather than what they have actually done this season).

    Mata
    Di Maria
    Herrera
    Rooney
    Carrick
    Blind
    Fellaini.

Blind, like Carrick before him, does a lot of passes that allow the opposition to keep their shape. I agree that assists aren't a great measure of creativity, but I think you are focusing too much on passes in behind the back four and not enough on passes that drag the back four out of position. Which really comes down to looking at what the player did before the pass - how and where they received the ball and whether or not they beat a marker before they played the pass. Edit: It's all about how we interpret what creativity is, as you say.

Express claiming that Dani Alves' agent is to fly to Manchester to discuss a deal with us in the summer. He's out of contract so would be "free", but given Barca's transfer ban, I can't see them not doing everything possible to hold onto him.

The Star has us wanting to sign Depay in the summer for £10m.

And The Mirror are running quotes from Rues saying he'll decide on his future by the beginning of April, and the paper are saying we're confident of landing him.

we were linked with him in the summer as well, but I wouldn't like to see us sign him, but then again free transfer might be ok.

He is 32 this summer and in all honesty he is not a very likeable player

Would be surprised - have the best RB in the league in Zab, and a quality backup in Sagna. Would be an odd move to go for Alves.

I also think he would be an odd buy for United - a 32 year old right back. Not entirely convinced re. his defensive game - not tested too much at Barca. At his age could he work up and back?

Signing him would have me very worried with regards to the future use of 352. Maybe he would be brilliant in a back 4, but I'd worry he would be signed more for his suitability as a wing back (stamina permitting)

I do love this from my google search.

The emphasis on FLY. It must be fairly close lads - they are FLYING to manchester. No trains or auto-mobiles for these jetsetters!

I don't mind 352 if LVG is buying players that suit it. At the moment he is just shoe-horning players into that system that haven't got the specific qualities needed to play in it.

That being said, I wouldn't really want Alves. same age as Evra and he wasn't fit for purpose last year.

If he had been loaned out to somebody where he would actually play and score a few goals , then 10-12 million.

Given he hasn't played much for three years, then probably about 5m

Does anybody else get a bit sick of the faux-mourning that goes on around the anniversaries of Munich or Hillsborough?
Terrible tragedies and the memory should be kept alive but young Irish lads who weren't even born or were too young to understand putting up stuff with sad emoticons and stuff is a bit much.

I presume its because they have seen all the old films and documentary's, heard stories from Bobby Charlton etc and just the general sadness of the whole situation. its only for 1 day as well so I have no issues
