Adnan has been totally anonymous this half... the lad needs to really step up in these games.

Working so can't see the match but it seems rojo is playing excellent, but Jones is poor. Rojo and Hummel's would be some combo

Why? 3-0 up, dominating possession. Quite happy to take off Falcao and RVP at that stage and give McNair some time.

Happy enough with today; Falcao and RVP scoring, ADM getting assists and some good chances, thought Januzaj did ok today (better than recent appearances), Blind and Rojo with good games, Shaw doing ok as well. We coasted through most of the game.

Jones, twice I think, took out a teammate going for a header, and Rooney is a serious problem in CM imo. But a win is a win.

The game was won, taking off a striker for a defender, oh the horror.

Positives: 3 points, Both strikers scoring, Daley Blind showing some real class out there
Negatives: The entire 2nd half, Adnan being totally anonymous/wasteful in possession, Jones is a liability, LVG's substitutions

Adnan wasnt that bad, his final ball is still bad but he beat his man a few times and put in a few decnt crosses. Valencia much worse and hes playing week in week out.

Disappointing not to get a few more in the second half, the substitutions only handed Leicester an opportunity to get something.

Now to beat the mighty Cambridge next.

Everytime lvg trys to make a defensive tweak the team to make it more solid the other team seems to score

With his reputation as being the next big thing, and his breakout season last year, it's games like today you want to see him taking the game by the neck. He hasn't announced himself this season. He hasn't shown anything this season to suggest a regular starting place in the team. I've said it before, as have many others, the kid needs to be loaned out.

Good performance today, there is absolutely no doubt 4 at the back is the only way to go .. I found the decision to put McNair on for RVP very strange and switch things around strange, no need to go messing around with things being so dominant. Blind, Shaw, Valencia and Rojo have very decent games, Rooney again fairly anonymous and Di Maria OK.

3 points is all that matters - here's hoping for a city win later to close the gap back to 9pts to the top.

Shaw and Jan didn't link up well down the left at all. Blind my motm probably

Blind had a great game. His reading of the game is excellent and keeps things moving nicely.
Jones was decent but had a few nervy moments which could have proved costly
Rojo was solid as a rock. Easily our best CB at the moment
Shaw and Valencia were solid at the back but terrible going forward
Rooney was awful with the exception of one or two hollywood passes which came off. He is never going to be a decent option for the midfield.
Januzaj was awful in the first half but improved slightly in the 2nd. Overall not a good performance though.
I thought Falcao did well and delighted he got a goal
    RVP was quality.
Di Maria had a decent game overall. Better in the 2nd half.

Herrera must be doing something very wrong not to be getting his game. He is light years ahead of Rooney in midfield.

Good win today, this run in for third and fourth is going to be something else, all teams are starting to hit some form.

Yeah get the feeling something aint right there with Herrera.

If he doesn't start against Cambridge I'd imagine all those stories about Van Gaal not liking him are true.

Good win today, first half was excellent, second half a snooze fest. rooney in CM I'm not hayp with, as much as the commentators were mouthwatering over him.

But it looked a lot better going back 4-4-2, but when we moved 4-4-2 with wingers near the end, that looked scary.

Yeah we were weaker after the tweak - I don't know what he is trying to prove with all the pointless changes.

I often wonder about this and if the match fixing probe he's involved with has a bearing.

Rooney turned in yet another brain-dead midfield showing. This shoehorning has to stop. Put him up front or on the bench, the team is bigger than him.

What a signing Blind has been, cheapest transfer and looks like our best one. His passing, reading of the game, defensive side of his game was excellent. Hopefully he stays fit for the season.

Also not sure why Januzaj is getting any stick, he played well and looked lot more direct without running into blind alleys. He was direct and every move was to attack the full back and towards the goal. Very positive display, yes final ball was lacking but he played 1 or 2 excellent passes too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,073 ✭✭✭irishfeen

    Daley Blind's game by numbers:

    94% pass accuracy
    5 interceptions
    4 clearances
    3 tackles won

    Great Performance!

Easy enough, but Leicester were not much of a challenge at all.

I thought Falcao was excellent - holding up the ball and taking up great positions - and he was unlucky to not have more goals.

Rooney and Blind had a cake walk in the middle with the way Leicester sat off them, but they weren't near authoritative enough for me. Rooney just does not know how to link up play with simple passes. Blind will be heaped with praise for his defending, assists and keeping it simple, but you can see he isn't nearly fluid enough in possession. The two of them will cost us against better teams.

The back four had it easy for most of the game and looked fairly solid, except for Jones' fúcked up back-pass; McNair (I think it was) failing at the back post for the goal and I think I saw Rojo chickening out of challenging for a long ball just before Albrighton had a shot from the edge of the box.

Januzaj did a good job of taking on his man and getting in a few crosses, but I thought his running off the ball, when United had possession, was a bit lazy at times.
