And then there is this guy:

tbh, the more air-time people like him get, the better. When you go to vote, just remember the look of pure hate in his eyes.

But what reason would you have for it to be bad, why would you be against it?

Stop putting words into my mouth! I wasn't expressing any negative opinion about it!

Exactly my case in point I was saying yesterday.

TBH as someone who is voting no , people like that guy does the no side any favors and makes the yes sides job a hell of alot easier.

What exactly makes you different from that guy though?

I'm not asking to change his mind. Can you quit putting words in my mouth?

Its a discussion board. He can discuss if he wants.

I see you still believe this is in the bag, good for me as a no voter.

You fail still to see the absolute determination of the no side to come out and vote on this and I'm speaking in broad general terms here.

Personal opinion here but you would be better serving your side by not coming out with comments like that and instead focusing on ensuring young , mid aged people (which is the VERY apathetic voting block) are registered and motivated to vote in the first place.

Well for starters I've not once spoken derogatory of homosexuals outside of my view that I am voting no.

Did he? He's just for Family Values. I don't think he said anything bad about homosexuals.

It's called asking questions. On a discussion board. I'm sure if he/she has any issue he can report me.

its a recently made up term that seems to describe **** all. using it over and over again is just really irritating.

I'm going to regret coming back here but this is a good gem and showing your ignorance / bias for trying to shout down alternative opinions as the majority of people do in this thread so blatantly and hypocritcaly.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland have set down guidelines on this that it has to be 50/50 because unfortunately there are people (many of which in this thread) who will shout down and round on anyone with an alternative opinion and given their way would not let them air their views.

Direct link to the guidelines --->> here and if you don't want to read that link heres a real quick article

Honestly, can you say you were shouted down?

There is a big difference between being silenced and (by your own adnisdion) having nothing to say in support of your own position.

I'm not sure if your talking about me or not but just in case you are I've no probs with Daith I think at all times you've been as respectful to my side of the argument as can be expected.

So, you've only singled them out for continued discrimination. Such a gent.

Simple question which will swing my vote. If this referendum is passed will it allow gay couples to adopt children?

The Children and Family Bill will allow gay couples to adopt children.
Even if the referendum is defeated, gay couples will still be able to adopt

So the answer would be No.

Yep most definiely, I don't need anything to support my position I'm not on this thread to discuss merits of voting yes or no.

As I said yesterday I'd hazard a (random) guess that 80-90% of voters already know their decision of voting yes or not (regardless of their reason / rationale) or voting yes or no.

Discussion is going to do very little to sway either side as the fundamental question in this referendum is a massive gulf between yes and no sides.

    No.

Thanks, that's a yes vote from me. I still don't think it will be passed however. Hope it will but young people won't turn out to vote so I think that's what will ultimately swing it in the no sides favor

No but will make it easier, they can adopt anyway but the marriage makes it so they cannot be discriminated against another married couple.

If it fails they can still adopt but will be lower on list then a married male/female couple
