    I uploaded one here.

I cant say if it's the "most" stable but it's been 100% stable for me.

Do this at your own risk but here's the procedure:

    1. Press the “Menu” button on the remote.
    2. Use the Direction keys until you arrive at the “TOOLS” Menu. “Tools” will be in the top left hand corner of your screen.
    3. Insert your USB Key.
    4. The “Upgrade by USB” text should now become white. This is also in the “Tools” Menu. Scroll down and highlight it.
    5. Press “OK” on your remote.
    6. Highlight “Upgrade mode” and use your left / right directional buttons to show “Allcode&bootloader”
    7. Scroll down to “”Upgrade File” and select the file you have written to your USB at step 1.
    8. Scroll down to “Start” and press “OK” on your remote.
    9. The Box will now start to upgrade the Programme List. DO NOT SWITCH IT OFF OR INTERRUPT IT UNTIL FINISHED!!!!!!!
    10. When the “Upgrade Finished” message appears, Press “Exit”.

Sound. Remember to have a look at the "TV System" and "Display Settings" and change them to suit your own set-up.

You will also likely need to delete and rescan the terrestrial channels as your frequencies are likely to be different.

I just use an ordinary 350 GB IDE drive from a laptop in a caddy I bought off ebay. Works perfectly.

Thats what I was thinking, just wondering has anyone got this working.

    Thanks

I just use and old VCR I have that has a video input. A lot of VCRs have a video input on the front and I use that as there was already coax around the house and I couldn't be bothered running cables for a multi LNB. I use the Ariva App on Android to change the channels and the setup works a treat.

I run the HDMI to to the TV in the sitting room and use composite cables for VCR around the house.

Ahhh Sh1t! You seem to be taking it in better spirits than I would have. Anyway, looks like you will have to reflash with a null modem cable. Where are you based, someone that has the kit might be close and do you a favour?

Oh Yes of course but we never heed those annoying little pop ups do we...

managed to re flash with null modem cable and install correct patch but not overly impressed with the performance on non fta channels and things like youtube and youp@rn not working but at least the box is not dead..

Its worth repeating for others doing this that if you get a bin file mismatch warning then you should not proceed. here is the latest firmware without a channel list for ariva 250

Updated on 9/12/2014, copy and paste URl below into address bar on your browser

Do the white sky cards work in this? Should I get channel 5 hd with the card?

    Thanks

They certainly used too afaik but Sky have paired boxes to cards so this may well affect HD channels.

Got the box up and running with the triax tri link. I found the picture a bit grainy. Not sure if it's my cable skills with f connectors or if it's the channel I have selected. I went with 63 as Meaghara saorview is 48 and 55. Any ideas?

Also, network doesn't seem to work at the moment and timer recordings not working. I think recording not working as I am on the same channel and it doesn't kick off, need to test out on other channels.

Otherwise, it seems to do the job well

Up and running on the network and recording, happy days. Just need to sort the picture quality now through the triax

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,098 ✭✭✭glineli

And what does master and slave do? Has anyone this up and running?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,098 ✭✭✭glineli

Running with the triax now and picture is good, happy days. Look forward to ringing sky saying bye bye

Do you think turning the Ariva off at the plug every night and back on in the morning is bad for it? Would it be better off in standby all the time or does it not make a difference?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,369 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Not too much difference. There's a switch at the back also if thats any easier.

switching off at the back resets and clears any small problems with epg etc so no harm doing it from time to time

I am usng the aerial out to distribute saorview around the house. When the machine is turned off I get no saorview but I do when it's on. Should the loop through not work when the machine is off?
