Aldo knew Conor wouldn't touch him because if he did, it would be the end of his title chances. Simple as.

A brawl in the audience would be a complete and utter disaster for the UFC in general and Conor specifically. Outside the octagon the fighters generally (with the exception of idiots like Jones/Cormier) wont lay a finger on each other because of the commission and the impact it has on their futures.

Whether it was staged or not (and I suspect not as I doubt Dana White wanted such scenes for a sport that is still trying to open up states like New York) Aldo knew that he was effectively untouchable.

Finding it hard to dislike Aldo.

Seems like a gent and up for the crack.

It had to be staged. Why would Conor react in such a fast (the way he leapt with such purpose over the cage) and aggressive manner against Aldo? Do they have some real deep rooted hate/vendetta? It looked a little silly to me. Not at all convincing.

Both knockdowns from kicks were because Conor was throwing kicks at the same time, just lost balance instead of damaging the leg so much he fell. Also, great recovery in both, back never hits the ground.

Also interesting to see Fightmetric recorded Siver's takedown attempts as 0/3. I know Conor hopped straight back up after the 2 non stuffed takedown attempts but thought they would still be counted as TD's.

Dont think theyre counted as TDs since he was never flat or controlled

A take down is not a take down unless you bring the person to the ground with control.

If you throw or double leg someone and they jump up straight away its irrelevant in my opinion. Like throwing punches that are blocked

I don't think Conor's back even touched the mat.

McGregor strikes me as slippery, a few fighters try TDs with him and he just slips out of their grasp.

Does make you wonder if he's really as poor on the deck as people make him out to be, if he's really weak there? He certainly doesn't look like he wants to get involved on the deck anyway, almost afraid of it.

He's a legit Brown Belt in BJJ. His ground game is very solid. But when he sees siver fading with every straight left why would he want to be straight back on his feet?

Staging the jump out of the cage is as silly as thinking having Conor being a roll model to the next generation of car thief's that'll use mma moves to rob a car. (after hours thread)

    :o

Dana I'd say gave him a bollocking before the post fight presser. Very stupid move from Conor, he looked embarrassed when asked about it in the post fight.

He seemed wound up over the piss taking Lamas (Irish accent video) and Aldo (King and the Joker) were at before the fight so maybe that was playing on his mind and that was the reason for the jump over the cage.

Thats what Ive heard from people training with him for years now. Its a pain in the arse to get him off his feet but 10 times harder to keep him there. Just bounces right back up.

Hes far from poor on the deck.Earned his brown belt in BJJ not too long ago. He just has no reason to stay there when theres very few fighters who can handle him on his feet.

Looks like Siver was going for the inside leg; which is why it was knocking Conor off balance, smart stuff from Dennis. If Aldo catches him there, he'll take his leg off.

Hard not to be impressed with McGregor's size and power at this weight.
He seemed a bit tired at the end though, considering it was only two rounds and there was very little grappling. He'll need a better weight cut when facing Aldo.

Lads I know mcgregor was a champion boxer underage but was wondering has he ever competed in any kickboxing/muaythai/ taekwondo ??? His stand up is a joy to watch.
Or has the only stand up been in his mma bouts?

What does that mean? Nutritionally speaking, do you reckon he took a short cut there and lost a lot of fitness due to that?

Too easy, he was just way too fast and clever for Siver who looked sluggish. What impressed me most was his takedown defence, his ability to get up from his back and the way he didn't rush the finish unnecessarily. The knock down looked like Siver had just given up though.

In fairness to siver I don't think he "just gave up". He took some punishment from the off.

Conor going to be in big trouble with Aldos kicks,
Aldo in his last few fights hasn't throw them as much because he was fighting wrestlers he'll be back to destroying legs aginst Conor,
Also i don't get people saying he only fell because he was off balance when Siver kicked him, well isn't that the point to kick him when hes off balance ?
Another thing is there defo a question mark over Conor's cardio he's yet to be in anything close to a proper fight, and looked wrecked after the Deigo fight and last night, You can bet your life Aldo will put pressure on and keep coming forward,

And pound and ground is Conor's weakest area. That area is where real cardio stamina is needed....

Haven't really read the thread, but Pendred is THE WORST fighter in the UFC currently. How is he getting these wins?

What? Where have you drawn this well-informed conclusion from?

I would argue that he's more efficient as a stand up striker. His best asset is his athleticism/striking from a standing position.

So, because he knocks people out standing up his ground and pound is weak?

My advice is DON'T!! :D Seems to me a lot of people watched their first ever UFC last night and came on here to show off their new found expertise :D

    Pendred's grim. Could(nearly should) be 0-3

Mcgregor has no cushion on his body. Once you get someone giving him consistent punches to the body he won't last.

Weaker! 8-9/10 as a stand up guy and maybe 7-8 as a grounder!
