Im currently a forestry student and my plan is to go to sweden and train on a forwarder and harvester. Does any one have any ideas what a forwarder or harvester operator salary would be??

1.75 a ton at thinning and 1 at clear fell means not much to me as i dont know how many tons a day you could move as a beginer or when experienced. Any more detail would be great?

As for sweden for training the course is subsatisted by the irish goverment so its cheaper than most.

well dont expect to move alot in the beginning anyway a forwarder takes alot of getting used to its all about being as fast as possible on the crane take the driving part slow and keep urself above ground, as for how much youll move all depend on how good the timber is and the ground ur on, thinning starting off 40 used to be my target then anything from 60 to a 100 i pulled in a day, only was at clearfell once pulled 130tonnes in bout 7hours, another way to put it would be taking brashing and breakdowns into consideration i used to pull about 600euro a week average but worked hard for it, Is there a website for the course ur looking into?
