I do remember hearing stuff about Pep getting fed up of Messi, any time Pep would sub him he would throw a strop and not speak to him for days and threw tantrums if it was decided he was going to be rested etc

Pep apparently was fed up of his childish behaviour but got no backing from the board to be firm with him, thus the tension between him and the board

Yeah there was a couple of incidents, but nothing major. The two had a great relationship when Pep left.

There was a lot of other reasons for tensions between Pep and the board, one being he wanted to sell Pique but that was rejected. The entire upstairs of that club is an utter joke.

Does Barcelona's tranfer ban not mean they can't sell players as well? If so that'd mean even if the club wanted to they can't sell Messi until Jan 2016

Guillem Ballague ruins it by saying only three clubs can afford him, I presume for FIFA fair play reasons, and they are United, Bayern and Real Madrid.

    On the ball there sir

They can sell but can't buy. So for that reason you would think they wouldn't be selling too much over that ban as they can't replace the player

Could you imagine the lunacy in selling a player like Messi and not being able to buy someone (or 3) to replace him for so long!

They'd have to be able to sell, the players can't just be imprisoned at Barcelona for the year.

Exactly the Messi story is a nothing story. Only way it would have any legs is if his contact was running out but it isn't. Being a football journalist must be one of the easiest jobs going

I am sure they can sell. They can't buy though, what about loans actually? Are they allowed loan in players?

No, they can't register new players. Signings, loans or free transfers.

suarez would finally play in his preferred position though and neymar would also excel... could make sense for barca to cash in now

Was it on here that someone posted a lengthy quote from a paper with a "done deal" transfer story about a United deal, and then ended the post by pointing out that he had just made the entire thing up as a joke to show how easy it is to be a tabloid BS artist?

    That was bloody brilliant.

And if it wasn't on here, sorry about that. You should have seen it, it was bloody brilliant.

Generally common sense doesn't come in to Spanish transfer dealings.

Messi's going nowhere anytime soon. Would he really want to join United, Real or Bayern anyway?

Still wouldnt make sense, all three can play together and you dont sell Messi for Suarez

I cant see Bayern having that kind of money to buy Messi either. Barca wouldnt sell him to Madrid and I doubt Ronaldo would like it either.

That leaves utd. Its a done deal. No ifs or buts. He'll be a utd player soon enough

    This.

While Ronaldo has an ego he generally seems to get on well with his co workers and isnt an alleged tax fraud ect.

I hear this is why Alexis left as well, didnt get along with Messi so he was fooked.

Pretty sure zlatan said the same thing when he was at barca

I can smell another free Luis Suarez Campaign

according to miguel delaney, Seamus Coleman is not on Uniteds radar & very little/nothing happening right now, BUT LVG wants a new center back and a defensive midfielder and will try to get players in if/where possible.

to be honest id be surprised if we signed anybody, but if Delaney is saying that LVG has plans to get these players in, then id believe it.
With the greatest of respect to Miguel, he is wrong on the bolded. His other guesses may be right but he picked the wrong side of the fence re Seamie.

yea technically they can play together but if you watch any of the barca games its just not working.

Suarez was being touted as the 3rd best player in the world last year behind Ronaldo and messi, he only has 1 league goal this year and has been very disappointing, imo messi is holding suarez AND neymar back.

City signing Bony is odd to say the least. Dzeko and Aguero are injured so sign a player thats heading to the ANC.

When both of them return what will be the difference between his situation and the one Negredo faced.

    Messi holding teammates back?

Messi the greatest teammate since sliced bread, so generous to those around him, so good at making others shine, holding people back? Say it isn't so!

    In theory you know,

    Suarez
    Neymar---Messi
    Alexis

is just so interchangeable and mouth wateringly good.

Sometimes things don't gel, blaming Messi for it is a bit mad really, players also take time to settle, and you have to factor in that Liverpool played directly to Suarez strengths last season, Barca don't play that way. Suarez knew that going there, he will need to adapt his game a bit, all the best players need to do this anyway once defenders start finding ways to stop you, the very best find new ways to succeed.

Neymar had question marks on him going there, he was by no means going to be a guaranteed success either for the record. I hope he does make it though, always enjoyed watching him.

You can understand the thought process though, these aren't young lads going to a new country and struggling, its a pattern of some of the highest quality footballers in world football, established, proven world class footballers, and all seem to underperform beside Messi. Ibrahimovic, Sanchez, Neymar and now Suarez.

and you forgot about David Villa, him and messi had a huge falling out and didn't see eye to eye at all

I'm sure he didn't nail his colours to the mast there and say we're not interested in him. It wouldn't be his style, I'm sure it was a 'It might be true but I didn't hear anything' line.

Does anyone know If ronaldo is earning more than Messi? I remembera few years back after Ronaldo became the highest paid player in Spain that a few Messi transfer rumours cropped up until he became the top earner.
(and Ronaldo does the same thing using United, I know).
