Internal wiring to blame for poor signal?

    Hi,

    I'm struggling to get a good picture on some stations with my cable provider. Lots of stations come in perfect with no issues ever but quite a few have regular signal dropouts with the usual digital artifacts. Some don't come in at all bar a few seconds of garbage.

    My provider have sent out new cables but these have done nothing. I have a suspicion that internal interference on the wiring could be to blame. There is extensive and fairly old internal wiring in my rented house. I got a very minor shock once from the main cable coax line. Could this be the issue and how is there anything I can do to confirm?

    Yes, it very easily could - are you connecting to a point on an internal wall some distance from wherever the TV cable enters the building?

    Are there multiple TV points in the building? If so, there may be some form of distribution amplifer put in which is unsuitable for the higher frequencies in use these days (and which could also be leaking voltage)
