Plastering over fibreglass/GRP

    Hi, I need to plaster over a fibreglass dome shape outdoors. Is there anything I need to do to prep the surface or will the render stick straight on?

    The rougher the surface the better the adheasion.
    I persume it it's the same for fiberglass.

    Here's an idea, chicken wire, mesh over the dome first ?

    Thanks guys. Any idea how id fix the chicken wire to the fibreglass? Obviously it needs to remain waterproof so i cant pierce it

    Cement based plaster will not take to fibre glass for sure.
    one option would be to use bal fastflex adhesive to scratch coat it or even better, scratch coat it with bal fastflex and bond the wire mesh with the bal fastflex,then plaster as normal.roughen up the fibreglass before you start.
    Bal fastflex is a rubber based adhesive that will take to fibreglass.cost about 90 euro for 12.5 kg
