There are 2 laptops in use but mine, unfortunately, has been very slow the past week with frequent disconnects. Every 5 or 10 minutes I have to disconnect and reconnect.

Other times it won't disconnect but a page won't load and will display an error message such as "Page not available or you are not connected to the internet"

No problems at all with the internet on the other laptop or when I use it on my phone. What could cause this to happen to just one laptop?

Not sure if it's the same problem but I had huge problems with my work laptop connecting to Eircom F1000 router but other machines had no problems.

I eventually figured out it was due to my work laptop (came preconfigured with Windows Update disabled) using the Windows 7 wireless connection. When I installed the up to date Intel driver / connection tool all the problems disappeared.

So, long story short, make sure the wireless drivers are up to date from the manufacturers site etc.

Trivia: You post that reply 24hrs after the op to the minute. The fact that I noticed that....too much caffeine.

OP: As it happened suddenly its unlikely to be the access point/compatibility but a failure in the laptop. Firstly, if its 8.1, automatic driver updates can screw with things, check there hasnt be an update recently in the update history.

As its a laptop though my money is on a failing antenna cable. They run up through the hinge and can wear out with opening/moving the lid. This will nuke throughput. Place the laptop beside the modem/router, if it works fine at 2-3ft rang then its likely that.
