And Lynyrd Skynyrd, who were actually named after a real person.

Steely Dan was the name of a strap on dildo in the book Naked Lunch

Probably confusing them with the old blues singer Lead Belly.

    Especially if you're a drummer.

I only just realised Midge Ure is a man - for years I just presumed Midge was a woman's name and she was some blonde 80s pop star involved with band aid.

    The shame!
Thin Lizzy's worst guitarist as he says himself ;)

and I never realised until I heard an interview but there was already a Jim in a band he joined so he used his name backwards.

Now you mention it, I didn't realise Freddie Mercury was gay until it was announced he had AIDS.
Great name for the band though. Did you see the video for "I want to break free" ?

No. It's a Twitter meme. My toaster goes up to 10 and ten minutes would burn toast to a black crisp.

Far right neo-Nazi bigots, some with numerous accounts or previously banned posters returning I suspect.

Maybe no so obvious as I never heard it before -the band the scissors sisters are named after a lesbian sex act.

It's one of lifes funny little twists - I'd seen the act performed long before I'd seen the band perform, but I'd never heard the phrase until the band.
It's called synchronicity I believe, sweet disco tinged horny synchronicity.

    I love them both:D

I never had a clue what a poinsettia was until someone gave one to us two Christmasses ago. I'm 35.

Guess that's what I get from growing up in the 1980's. Far from poinsettias I was reared.

    A Christmas plant? From Mexico?

Still not sure I get it.

I used to think that it was a mixup of the first letters of North, South, East and West. :p

That the number dial on a toaster is for the length of time in minutes that you want your toast on for..........I always thought the number dial was for heat – the higher the number the higher the heat..........I’ve been fooled my whole life.

When I was young I used to think the word 'expat' referred exclusively to Irish people.

My logic was that the 'pat' part was short for Paddy and if you were an expat you were in fact an 'ex-paddy', and no longer Irish. :o
