Hello all,

Does anyone have experience of changing visa category, specifically from J-1 Intern to Trainee?

I understand that it is possible to apply to the Department of State to have your category adjusted from J-1 Intern to J-1 Trainee under special circumstances, and I was wondering if anyone has successfully made this change?

You really need to contact an immigration lawyer if you are already in the US, they are the best ones to advise on "adjustment of status" issues.

You need to file an I-539 form and go from there - however I would really recommend an attorney to help you out.
