We have a slow Lambert and Ballotelli and need a pacey striker similar to Sturridge and Keane is the answer?

    Methamphetamine Monday?

No it didn't. We hardly dropped a point after selling Keane back to Spurs. He would of made no difference in the run in.

    I was joking relax.
Keane is too slow, too weak to do anything in the PL anymore. We seen how Lambert has mostly struggled & Balotelli too as we were so used to mobile strikers.
Defoe could maybe do something but he was let go by Spurs for a reason as je was on the decline & losing some of his pace.
They wouldn't be no brainer signings more like last resort if we are restricted by FFP.

We need to bring in another striker. Its rumoured that Sunderland are still interested in Boirini. If we could get £9-£10m for him we may have something to play with.

That aside we are scraping the barrel in my opinion looking for options. Balotelli and Sturridge need to be got back fit as quickly as possible and play the two of them up front together when they are.

Balotelli is far from slow. His movement wouldn't be the best. Keane isn't certainly an ideal fit, far from it. But we don't exactly have Reus, Cavani and Higuain's agents beating down our door at this moment.

We need someone up there with a little bit of movement to drag defenders a bit to create some space. Lambert made me hate football at the weekend.

I love Keane. It was tragic how Benitez treated him.

I've said it before, he should have never been signed, but when we had him Rafa should have made the most of him and not shunted him out in January. If I recall that season we were just down to Torres, Kuyt and Babel as our main strikers with N'Gog as backup (!). After he was loaned back to Spurs we had draws against Man City and lost to Boro in which Keane would have been a useful asset.

At the same time, lads have said to me, that while Keane was with us, he played against Fulham (0-0), West Ham (0-0), Stoke (0-0), Aston Villa (0-0) and had he scored in either of those and won us the match we would have won the title in the long run.

I don't think that's very fair though as he was a sub in (I think) all of those games and Gerrard was playing in his role at the time (I also think).

A goal or two in either of those games and how different things could have been for Keane and LFC

Dunno about you guys but the news of Man City's new academy and training complex, and seeing it in all its glory on the news this morning, is more depressing than the current state of affairs at LFC. I'm am green with envy - we will never be able to compete with these guys.

I just remember him getting feck all starts. When he did start, had a good game or scored, he would still be dropped.

He got 5 in 19 which, while not the best record, is not terrible and most of those apps where probably off the bench late on.

Gas how one set of standards apply to Keane yet not to some of the other dross we have signed up top recently.

Keane got 7 goals and 5 assists in his 4 and a half months with us.

I think he missed one or two sitters and Rafa had enough. I think it was poor man management by Rafa, something he has done on a few occasions with other players.

As one of the biggest Rafa fanboys in the world, dumping Keane like he did irked me something special. Keane was doing okay and growing into it. He would have been the option we were crying out for the following season too.

If we we getting someone from the MLS we would be better off getting Obafemi Martins. We nned a quick striker. Gameiro would also be a better option as he is behind Bacca at Sevilla.

I suppose it depends on what the asking price is,it would need to be fairly cheap, no doubt he looks good but it's a bit of a flavour of the month type thing for me, he'd naturally go to complete sh1t and bottle it playing for Liverpool like many have before him.

Well Utd havent played yet and what is a 4pt gap now could be a 7pt gap tonight and a 10pt gap next weekend.

Or it could be a 1pt gap next Monday swings and roundabouts at this time of the season with games coming thick and fast

Id rather our transfer policy would shift to signing players who have been proven in top level competitions and have played at top clubs, not some overrated in form premier league player which we always seem to sign who fails miserably

Bolasie shouldn't even be in the club's thinking if it's actually serious about competing.

    give me a break.

he's done fúck all to merit a big move.

I just think, considering Keane's form the previous year when he and Berbatov were electric and one of the best striking partnerships of that season, that Keane could have done a lot better for us. He played 28 games and scored 7 which is a poor return really. The 5 league goals were against WBA, Bolton (not great opposition) and Arsenal in the league and the 2 goals against Aletico Madrid and PSV in the CL.

I'll just focus on the season before in the league with Spurs. The season before Keane had 15 in the league. He got goals against Bolton, Villa, Liverpool (twice!) Newcastle, Blackburn, Birmingham, Fulham, Sunderland, Sunderland, Derby, Man City, Chelsea and Reading.

I know it seems like I'm just spewing up factoids and numbers and stats but Keane clearly had Premier League ability. I'm not saying Keane should have gotten a better deal because he was Irish and I'm Irish - I don't think he should have been signed in the first place. But while we had him we should have made the most of him. And not just for that season but the next.

4 and a half months wasn't enough time to make an impact. I don't think he was dross, just really short on confidence, not on ability.

The Keane/Benetiz situation is quite similar to the Borini/rodgers one. Manager not wanting a player and thus refusing to give him a fair chance to turn prove him wrong.

He was a Rodgers signing but he has realised he isn't good enough & now won't give him a chance. Rodgers treatment of Borini is appalling tbh.

And Keane was signed under Benetiz.

Borini is,was, and never will be fit to lace up Keane's boots.

Its not even close, Keane was a proven international the other is a bottom of the league standard player at best. We would have won the league if we retained Keane that season and Rafa wasn't stubborn and played him, our other option after Torres was Ngog!

Well, how about this for revisionism: I reckon we'd have finished top four the next season if Keane had been kept around.

That's conjecture and totally ignoring all the other things going on at the club that season.

Is that 15 goals in the same period or in the entire season?

I think if you start saying some of his goals weren't against great Premier League teams then everything starts falling apart.

We don't play the Top Four every week...
