So I'm signing up for UPC as the moment but don't want to use the horizon box as a wifi router. I've a number of home automation devices to connect to the router so I would like something that offers a stronger wifi connection.

    I've two questions -
    • What router would you recommend?
    • How do get the router working with UPC?

THe Horizon box is awful for wifi. I would love a solution also.

Just tell them you want a stand alone router, they will give you one.

Works for me in all parts of my house, but my walls aren't solid concrete walls,However I find I have to reboot the box at LEAST once every two weeks.

If you already have BB from UPC and the Thomson router can that still be used if you were to get TV from them in future

Cutting off their nose to spite their face.....I get called from their reps at least twice a month badgering me to take tv with all kinds of special deals, this would be a deal breaker for me if I decided on it......seems crazy they'll get that 60 euro back in 2 months plus the further revenue from ongoing bills.....no way I'd pay 60 euro to keep something thats essentially mine
