Class the way he ramped it up this season. Nice to look forward to all majors with him in it.

I still fancy him winning The British Open ;):D

We only see the glory of the tournaments - but clearly Shane - has put in big work.
His putting was fairly poor the other day - but was just a bad day he was on TV.

    Made up for him .

Yes there were lads on this thread - going on as if he was a hacker from the midlands - even after he had won an Irish Open.

Then there were lads giving him stick when he was top 100
Then when he was top 75
Then when he was top 60

Now top 50. Maybe this will be the end of it.:D

Really needs to be thinking Top 30 by end of next year, first major and secure Ryder Cup spot, else he should jack it in...hacker

@vc606 has him up to 47th in new rankings.

Targets achieved for this year. Great for him and his team

I did some calcs and came up with the same result. Shane's revised average points is 2.713 by my reckoning and his projected year end average is 2.515, plus whatever points he picks up in the Nedbank.

He should be safe enough for top 50 at year end, but it depends on how those who are just behind him do between now and year end. They probably will have limited playing opportunities, although the Nedbank and the Hero World Target will offer quite a few world ranking points.

I think they have reduced the points on offer in those in recent years because of the limited fields.

Possible the opposite since it became an official event and field increased to 30 players.
Of course only a percentage of prize will count towards 2015 race to Dubai.

I think the only restriction is that last place can not be worth more than 2.40 world ranking points if there are fewer than 30 players. Both tournaments offered 46 points to the winner last season, with 5th place getting 11.04 points, 10th place getting 6.44 points and last place getting 2.40 points in the World Challenge (because there were only 18 players; 17th place got 3.91 points) and last pace (30th) in the Nedbank getting 2.08 points.

So there's lots of points at stake. We'll have a better idea how Shane is fixed when we see who is entered for these events this year

Last place in Nedbank gets $100k, nice way to ease into 2015 season.
Nothing like being on the gravy train.

This year he had a shocking start
Things didn't get going till the BMW @ wentworth
Playing well in the big events is more important that's where the ranking points are

You think he'll ever lose the gut? Most pros these days work out a lot to improve their game.

His schedule for this year was planned to skip the early season low money events in Asia, play the high money events when they reached Europe with a view to qualifying for and peaking in the big money events late in the season.

He has doubled his winnings and made the top 50 so he got it right.

Once he is in the top 50 at Christmas, his schedule for 2015 will be based around the wgc events and majors with higher ranking points. He'll probably drop out of the top 50 early in the new year but will rely on getting good points in these events to stay in the top 50.

Getting in to the top 50 seems to be harder than staying there. Some players get in through a surprise win in a big event. He had to really grind it out to get there, especially turning it around after a bad finish last week. That should stand to him.

I think we should be looking forward to seeing more of him at the big events.

Not so much a touchy subject as inappropriate timing. Let's just celebrate his achievement for a day or two before we start banging on again about his physique.
