All well and good making jokes but he could have killed him.

Why didn't Gerrard take the penalty for the third goal in Istanbul?

It just popped into my mind earlier.

He was the captain and the penalty taker but left it to Alonso.

so, Fellaini elbows a player in the face and Man Utd fans start doing mental gymnastics to justify it?

If I remember right Rafa said at the start of the game that if we got a penalty, Alonso was to take it.

Was only around 2007 and onwards that Gerrard really took over as the absolute penalty taker, I believe.

Alonso had been assigned as the pen taker for the night by Rafa.

I never knew that Rafa had asked Alonso to take any pens on the night.

Gerrard's most important penalty was the one he missed against Blackburn resulting in Uncle Woy getting the bullet.

Off that list i'd like to think we could use at least two in our starting line up. I suppose the thing that will hamper us is our 'strategy'

    Gerrard and Johnson? :pac:

I know we wouldn't get him But I would love to see us try for Khedria.

We really should go back in for Konoplyanka.

Romero as a goalkeeper on a free looks like a good deal as well.

Huntelaar on a free as well looks like a good deal as well for a season or two.

    Adriano and Khedria for me.

We'll probably end up with a renewed contracts for Johnson and Gerrard and sign Conor Wickham

I'd absolutely cream me kaks if we got Khedira but not a hope that we will!

I'd pick John Terry from that list if I had the choice.

Khedira and chiellini on free transfers would make up for out poor business to date although id be amazed if chiellini does not sign a new deal at juve. Going for khedira makes painfully obvious sense to me.

I know you probably know this, but we can only sign English league players on a pre contract.

On the Gerrard penalty thing, I think he had missed a few that season and Alonso had taken over as the main taker for the month or so leading up to that. Gerrard was due to take the 5th penalty though in the shootout I believe.

I really hope Sterling doesn't play tomorrow night. He''ll get kicked like an adopted ginger kid against the Scots, an injury waiting to happen.

Gignac and Ayew in for Balo and Borini.

Ojo playing for England U18s in a friendly scored twice-o.

Vargas for me, I reckon he's ready for a step up from QPR and dare I say, a step back in the Suarez direction.

We won't sign anyone in January.
