    Hi all,

Pretty straightforward question really, I have a Huawei Mobile broadband dongle from 3 and my allowance is going to run out before the end of my billing period.

I have already contacted 3 and upgraded my account from the next billing date but they tell me that they can't do it any earlier than this and I'll have to pay overage charges of about €50 a GB if I go over my allowance.

Unfortunately we need a service for work reasons so I was thinking of heading to Tesco and buying a PAYG broadband SIM and sticking it in my dongle to tide us over for a few days until next month's allowance kicks in.

Can this be done or will the dongle be SIM locked like a lot of phones are?

Any other suggestions as I'm going to be raped with charges otherwise?

A lot of them are locked and Three will not unlock them either.

It may be possible to get it unlocked via the internet.

The other possibility would be to get a pay as you go sim from Three and use it in the modem
