    I had used MRTG in a previous job. It was a bit of a pain to get set-up, but once done it was damned reliable.

    Somebody told me about Cacti, which is apparently more flexible. I must sit down and have a play with it sometime :P.

    PRTG appears to require a Windows machine (which would immediately rule it out for me), whereas both MRTG & Cacti are more Linux/Unix centric.

    I use MRTG to graph my broadband usage at home. It was a bit awkward to get set up, but that was mainly configuring SNMP, which is verily a black art to me... Once I had that working though, MRTG itself was easy to set up. Although because I use PPPoE, sometimes the interface number can change after a disconnect/reconnect which can confuse MRTG. A script on the router to restart snmpd with the PPP connection mostly solves that.
