Friend request won't go away

I've an incoming pending friend request which I've tried to delete numerous times but nothing happens when I click the "Save" button or whatever it is. It's just that the little "1" notification at the top of the page is bothering me. Nothing important, just wondering if there's an easy fix. If not, no biggie.

I suspect you're being got out by an oddity of the friend request interface. There's a little tick box in the corner of the avatar of the user on the request that has to be ticked first before it can be ignored.
