Friend of mines father used to drive from close to enfield to the guinness factory to collect the used brewers hops etc every saturday morning on a super dexta with no cab.

now that is a tough tough man - id say he was blue with the cold by the time he got to dublin. was this the days before fancsy motorways and the like?

Yep would have been the old road to dublin, as far as inknow they had to go through all the small towns bypassed by the new n4

Remember while on summer work unloading straw which was delivered by 4255 from Tullamore to Cavan. I thought that was a long drive up & back only stopping to unload

Most of the above were once off things.
A few around here drew beet to Mallow factory for the last campaign with tractors.Think its about 120 miles or so.
They were doing a good few loads.Know all had at least 40k box tractors etc but still a long day with a big load on busy roads.

It surely is a long drive even at 40k! Lucky they did not have to go to the back of a queue when they got there or there wouldn't be very many loads put in per day/night.

It was a load a day.Think it was about 10 hours in total on the road.Leave at 4,land in Mallow at 9 to 10,wash out,get the breakfast and home for the tea before 6.Then load again for the next day.
