I have a signing day coming up but I will miss it as I will be abroad. Am I better off signing off for the period I'm away or what is the best way to do it? This has never happened to me before!

Depends on how long you are away for. Best to discuss it at the office you are signing on at. They'll advise what is appropriate be it signing off or filling a holiday request.

Fill out a holiday request form or do it online(if your office has the facility)

It says you have to file the application ten days in advance. Too late for me!

Go in person to your social welfare office. Bring proof of travel & ask how best to proceed. It's better that you have informed them in advance rather than wait for something to happen after you came back. Do this ASAP.
