    Hello.

Sometime the recption in the house isn't great either and the 3G coverage is intermittent.

    What are my options? Satellite?

    Can anyone advice

Satellite is awful as a broadband substitute due to the high pings.

I'd check out FWA (Fixed wireless) providers in your area.

Excuse my ignorance, but is that like a 3G modem thing?

It's a high speed fixed wireless service to a providers mast they will usually install a small antenna outside if you can get the service.

Much faster and reliable compared to a 3G mobile technology.

Find if there are any WISPS in your area.
