Traded up from Win2k - XP is good in my opinion - some new features ....remote access - allowing someone to connect to your pc and run programs on it; System Restore (although not as good as Go Back) - it has saved me once already.

As regards music recording, i have no idea - i always use Nero to burn CDs....

but if your on Win2k, you wont regret upgrading.:)

i put in an XP pro cd, and did a test for copatability,

it said my conexant(or whatever) modem was not compatible with XP pro,

would this be a driver thing? or would i need a new modem,

im doing up my pc soon, when i have more money,

have a 1.3 athlon and ddr ram, so i need a new mobo,
    and some other bits

I think its great, not one blue screen since i upgraded from 98.
You wanna pretty decent pc to get the full flowery effect though.

I would suggest pulling up the website for the modem manufacturer - then download the latest drivers for xp - i would imagine its just a driver issue. Check out the site and see if theres anything in relation to xp - maybe send them a mail giving them the message u got when you ran the compatibility test.
