The Big Carnival was another great one.

He was actually a very good actor.

EDIT: Same film as already mentioned, just with another name.

Oh Wait! That was Martin Sheen.

Still a link alive to the golden age of Hollywood when men were men. It's amazing how society has changed so much in Kirk's lifetime. He must be scratching his head today at modern LA. 'Where did it all go wrong?'

97? Meh. He is only a young fella.

Bob Hope made it to 103 and still played his golf up to the end.

Kirk Douglas had a stroke a number of years ago and as a result developed a condition called Aphasia. It's a relatively common condition that people acquire mainly as a result of stroke.

Aphasia is when a person has difficult with expressive and receptive language. It is an incredibly frustrating condition as you know exactly the words you want to say but the part of your brain that expresses language is damaged, and so you cannot get the words out. As an actor, aphasia is probably one of the worst conditions someone can acquire. For a relatively common condition, there is very low public awareness of aphasia and Kirk Douglas has done outstanding work in raising awareness of it throughout the wold. He wrote a book called 'My stroke of luck' which is a must read for anyone after stroke.

Here is a clip of him on Parkinsons talking about aphasia and the impact it has had on his life. Legend! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k6aemk6sck
