i told someone their pc might be runing slow cos their hardrive was too full....

suprsise surprise, they went and deleted some files probably from the windows folders etc,

apparently now, when trying to boot C:/.....appears,

so is whats needed just to stick in a Windows CD and, the system will prompt the rest?? or does it sound more serious???

    help would be appreciated

Boot from CD and reinstall over the top, should be no problem.

    actually.........

i know im going to have to ask this so i may as well try now,

if he gets back in by booting from cd rom,

how will he go about reinstalling wondows from there?

is it easy? he knows nothing about computers and he'll ring me and ill have to try explain over the phone....

so this is why im looking for the right words,

the simplest solution is definitely the best!

It's very straight forward, it's all diagrams and click yes or no, should be no problem even for a beginner.
Best advice is take your time.

Just boot up off the 98 cd you should be fine read the onscreen instructions carefully,

just don't go formatting anything :)
