I'm currently with Vodafone on Cloonfad, Co. Roscommon exchange and getting 20Mb/s on ADSL2+. However a family member only about 300m away also with Vodafone is only getting 7Mb/s and when I checked I see there on G.DMT modulation. Vodafone are telling him that Cloonfad is not an enhanced exchange and therefore they can't increase his speed. But if this was true how am I getting it? Anyone got an explanation and can he be changed over to ADSL2+?
    Thanks

That's a legacy exchange, you aren't connected to it.

So given my location is there any way to find out what exchanges both of us are connected to then?

Can I add that some rural exchanges have both ADSL and ADSL2+ racks

I had an issue with eircom before where I asked could I be swapped from the ADSL rack to the ADSL2+ rack. They wouldn't do it as they claimed such a move would bear little benefit, could be detrimental to what was a long line and also that ADSL2+ spaces were spared for better lines

ED E may be correct however and you could be routing to a different exchange in this case. But just stating, an "enhanced" exchange doesn't mean everyone gets put on ADSL2+

They phase out old line cards and swap in ADSL2+ so over time. A move can be done if you get a friendly tech.

OP call tech support and ask what yout ASAM code is, that'll tell you your exchange. Eg RMS = rathmines, MGR = mullingar etc.

Thanks guys. I suspect that he may well still be on the old ADSL rack as he was previously with eircom for yrs while mine is a new line installed only 2 yrs ago. I'll keep on to vodafone and see if they'll get eircom to swap the line to the new rack...
