Do explain as it looks very uninspired to me and the ui is a mess.

    321584.JPG

All personal opinion of course but I like the looks and size.

Obviously there are huge question marks over the UI and battery life. The fact apple didn't mention battery life you can probably tell it wont be great.

I've said this on the Apple forum, but honestly I'm stunned at how poor an effort it is. That render alone says a lot... the circular classic watch face stuck onto a rectangle. Baffled as to what all the talent hires were doing here.

Good point, but as Moto and LG have found out its hard to do the round watchface.

    I think it looks stunning.

    Are you serious?

It looks like a bloody children's toy!

And as for the "digital crown" nonsense...

And of course the price... $349 or 2 Moto G's with change left over.

I actually thought the "digital crown" thing was a good idea.

Design wise I prefer the look of the Moto 360, but I think the Apple UI is very good. And it all ran very smooth.

I don't think I could justify buying an iPhone to go along with it, so I'll have to declare myself out, and continue with Google Now

The Apple Watch UI is another mess, a jumble of different paradigms between the physical dials with hunt and peek and touchscreen scrolling etc. It's just a confused product overall. Has anyone actually gotten an hands on with a working unit.

It's still amazes me that the 360 is a Moto product and that thing is an Apple device.

Nope, the units they all got their "hands on" with have just rolling screenshots - software is far from complete.

I agree with this point, on stage your man demoing was using two hands. It's yet to be seen how this will play out once it's in reviews get some time with it. On paper it's a bit convoluted.

It's a nice looking device but not nearly as good looking as the Moto G or LG Watch R. The crown for accessing the rather messy looking UI, looks like a pretty awful and cumbersome way to use such a small screen layout tho.

The apps for sending heart rate/pictures/vibrations to another person will probably be fun for all of 10 minutes and then never used again imho.

MKBHD has put his Moto 260 review up at last. Very good review in my opinion, nice and honest about pointing out the Pros and Cons of the 360.

    Most likely a placeholder date.

Managed to pick up the Moto 360 on adverts yesterday.
Moto 360 isn't as big as some of the reviews and video walkthroughs made it appear and I don't have large wrists. It's also a lot lighter than I thought it would be.
Installed the latest update last night which some people had mentioned improved battery life.
Took the watch off the charger at 6.30am this morning and its battery is currently @ 60% remaining and its 11.30pm.

    +1

Is the lag as bad as they say?

I bought a Samsung Gear, it was dead on arrival so sent it back and bought the LG G watch instead as I didn't know if waiting for the 360 was worth it mainly due to the reports of laggy screens.

A friend of mine went to Las Vegas for a week and I asked him to get me a 360 while he was there.

Git won't tell me if he got one or not.

I havent noticed any lag but I've nothing to compare it to.
The only issues I've had is just down to the android wear software itself and some inconstancies in how some apps behave
e.g. some notifications have additional actions - whats app you can view messages on the moto 360 but Viber you can't - just an option to open on your phone.
MMS pictures are displayed on the moto 360, whats app doesn't display images etc.
Controlling Spotify / PocketCasts works flawlessly.
I have had some issues with google now, if it doesn't recognise a term it appears to hang google now and it eventually comes up that the watch is offline - the strange this is if i try the search on my phone immediately afterwards, google now is also offline.
Everything seems to reset itself a couple of seconds later.

I have actually noticed google now is behaving like that on my phone and I don't have a smart watch. If it doesn't understand something you say it hangs for about 20-30 seconds. So maybe it's a recent update to google now as opposed to the smart watch.

Ah well, he wasn't able to pick it up for me. I'll keep an eye out for when it goes on sale here instead.

    Bugger!

Rumours abound that the UK will see the Moto 360 released today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 764 ✭✭✭smackyB

Yup, looks like UK O2 stores might be the only place that has them today. Amazon have it listed but only available via a 3rd party seller and it doesn't dispatch until Nov 1st :(

I have a sneaking suspicion a lot of the dates are placeholder dates. My only real annoyance with this whole thing is just how bloody quiet Motorola is being about this.

Just tried ringing O2 store in Belfast to see if they had any stock but nothing doing, they had no idea when it would be arriving.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,037 ✭✭✭Sonics2k

People in the UK that O2 now have them in stock and they have collected their pre-orders.

O2 UK selling Black Moto 360

Officially on sale in the UK now, so far in Black only. My fiancée is from the UK, so I may ask if her father or brother can pick one up for me.

Selling for £199.99, which converts to about €255. Not sure if it can be Parcel Motel'd or similar.

To the best of my knowledge, networks here will not be selling it in the future.
