Problems conencting Windows Lumia 520 to laptop

Zune won't recognize the device... have tried using the fixit tool from Windows but it says there's nothing wrong. It is plugged in to the computer, and the fixit tool acknowledges the phone as does my bluetooth setup, but Zune refuses to.

Zune is for Windows Phone 7 devices only.

The Lumia 520 is a Windows Phone 8 device so you can either use Windows Explorer to browse the Phone and Memory Card storage on the device, or use the Windows Phone desktop app...

Is this a new phone? Why were you using Zune?

What are you connecting the phone to the PC for?

Do you have a MicroSD card in it?

What version of Windows?
