    I know it's way too early but I watched two stags this evening hammer each other one of them had only 1 antler there were two big animals (fallow)

    lovely to watch them at it.Seen animals getting aggressive very early (and late) last year myself

    These bucks we just sizing each other up - they will know long before the rut how they rank in the heirarchy. Even cattle will do the same to show who is boss.

    Heard quite some roaring this evening as well. I know there's a mighty young red stag around my area, hope it's him getting ready to sow his oats.

    I came across a fallow rutting stand today ,it had been churned up and lots of hoof marks around it from them fighting,no stink of piss from it.I know they are not rutting but probably sorting some hiearchy system?Iv seen sika and hybrids fighting on the hill well before the rut before wonder is this it
