Just waiting on the Van Persie news for the injury.

Your wrong ,the captain of the team won't be benched espically Rooney.
With vp looking likely to go for the knee op Rooney is a solid choice.
Van Gaal eyes are soley on the league now and will play falcao and rooney and when vp is fit rotate him.
Vp in the last two games was dire to say the least,im going with falcao, his record speaks for itself and is worth the money!
If balotelli is 10 then falcao going to be 12.

Perhaps. But as you say when RVP is fit then rotation will be a factor. 10.5m is a lot for a player subject to rotation. The Utd front line look very powerful from the point of view of challenging for the league but from a fantasy football point of view just like the city frontline they look overpriced with a risk of rotation and egos kicking in. For a little extra Costa looks a much better bet with less risk of rotation.

Yep, it will cement his place for sure.

I won't be getting any United attacking players until I see a serious improvement from them. I think they need to change from 5-3-2 to 4 at the back, so until they change from that I don't really see myself getting anyone.

Apart from their form, there's now a rotation issue - pretty sure they won't play RVP, Rooney, Falcao, Di Maria and Mata in every game. One of the appeals of Rooney/RVP/Mata before the other 2 were signed was that they were guaranteed starters. But that's not the case for any of them. Obviously if RVP is injured that changes things, but nothing confirmed yet.

Potentially a silly question but given my terrible start I can't take risks getting this wrong. If I activate my wildcard and make changes and save them, can I make further changes if I need to before the deadline for the next gameweek shuts?

Once you activate wildcard, you have until 11.30 on the morning of next gameweek starting, i.e Sept 13th.

Anyone see any winners and losers of deadline day?

Of the cheap option defenders, looks like none of Hutton, Wisdom and Moore were replaced.

Hull signed Ben Arfa, Ramierez and Hernandez, who knows who will go where but I wouldn't trust anyone there to be a regular till we see their starting XI.

Southampton signed a defender and midfielder, so some of them will drop to the bench.

United let some of the kids out on loan, Powell and Keane, could be good cheap options eventually.

Coates to Sunderland, who will be benched there?

    Sandro and Krankjar to QPR.

Will Welbeck be starting at Arsenal? Reckon he could end up being a pretty good scorer while Giroud is out, Arsenals type of play should suit him a lot better than Uniteds did.

Yes. Unlimited changes until September 13th.

I did an Arsene Wenger on it and ditched Sanogo and brought in Wellbeck. At 6.9, I think he could be a bargain between now and Giroud's return.

If only he could score :)
Hard worker, granted, but just lacks a bit of quality in the final 3rd.

We'll see. He'll have the chance anyway. It's a question of whether he is useless (a distinct possibility) or it was the United system (another possibility).

Costa, Aguero & Falcao take too much of my resources.

Costa is nailed on for me but the other 2 are causing me a headache.

Aguero, proven points scorer but injury prone

Falcao, should be a consistent points scorer but Man United are a mess.

Its a question of which one to downgrade to save cheapening the rest of my team too much

I've a feeling that there is better value to be had from other strikers but who's going to provide it.

    Dzeko, Jovetic, Naismith, Lukaku, Welbeck....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,088 ✭✭✭Nib

I think I'll wait for a game or two before getting in Falcao. Like you say, United are all over the place at the moment and all these new signings could take a few games to bed in. Falcao is just as injury prone as Aguero.

I'm on my WC and barring injuries I'll be going with Naismith - Aguero - Ballotelli.

Balotelli is a risk but I seen enough in his first game to suggest he will score a lot of goals for Liverpool.

Welbeck is a tough one. He's not the greatest finisher in the world but then again neither was Thierry Henry. If any manager can get the best out of Welbeck, it's Wenger.

Lukaku is just too inconsistent for me. He frustrates me no end so definitely won't be near my team any time soon.

Dzeko and Jovetic's returns will diminish greatly once Aguero starts firing.

Henry was just about average alright.

I meant in his first season at Arsenal, he was very raw.

Have you anything to add to the thread other than bolding pieces of other people's post and posting a smart arse reply?

To be honest I don't think this thread serves much purpose, are we going to have thread on goalkeepers/defenders/midfielders as well?

If you look in the transfers thread there is discussion about this already.

The comment above was posted to the strikers thread which was then moved here.
Was going to reply asking why the general fpl thread served no purpose but glad I checked.

Ridiculously took 8 point hit to get di maria and falcao in. Midfield of Ramsey-Fabregas-DiMaria-Lamela-Siggurdsson and Front line of Falcao and Costa will hopefully work long term

Upgrade Lamela to Sterling and you're laughing

Great looking team bro. I can actually see man utd dominating and challenging for the title nevermind the top 4 with their recent signings. Its between themselves and chelsea for the league imo, united are sure to be creating bag loads of chances too with their attacking options, the worst thing is trying to pick one of their players to play, i currently have rvp, could downgrade to falcao and save myself 1.5. probably will do that before gw4 and leave it at that

There is not a hope in hell United will be finishing ahead of City, wouldn't go making your Fantasy Football decisions based on that assumption.

I'm a United fan and even I think that notion is silly.

Not until next year. Need a leader in defence ala Vidic. Also need someone to boss about the midfield like Yaya.

Until those two players are signed, I don't see us challenging for anything but 3rd / 4th place.

They still have too weak a defence to challenge, Rojo won't change that. They should score a lot of goals if LVG can get the best out of the new signings though.

I'm not so sure. I reckon there's a few that would be of the opinion that Sturridge is better than Falcao and that henderson is just as good as Fabregas.

Let them think that all they want...
But someone referred to Henderson as Henderbus the last day!
The phone nearly went out the window.

I can handle a bit of bias, Hendo is annoying (he's not good enough to have a nickname), but Henderbus......

That's a cracking name....Henderbus. I'll be having that if (and more likely when with a name like that) I bring him in at somestage.

    Henderbus :)
