Is there an LFC bit I can skip to? Don't think I could handle 71 mins!

Ah you should listen through as you'll discover why City will be an over the hill side by 2018! The LFC stuff starts at 42 mins.

Valdes under a high ball or cross doesn't inspire me. I can imagine him being decimated by the likes of Stoke. I would have loved to have seen a cheeky bid for Lloris, I think he is probably the second best keeper in the world behind Neuer.

Daley Blind is a good signing IMO, he is probably their best signing in that window.

Agree with most of your post, in particular re Shaw. Daley Blind I'm less certain on though. Based on the world cup I think he could be a typical Dutch defensive player, silken passing, lovely positioning bit terrifyingly poor, inept or just dangerous when asked to actually defend (Stam is the only recent exception I can think of)

Yeah Facebook definitely brings out the worst in people

    Numbskulls with opinions!

Falcao being compared v Lambert is the latest. Seen a few do the same on here which was pretty bizarre.

Comparing one of the world's best strikers v 3rd choice striker.

Personally I think Ronaldo >>>> Pennant

"I don't think it will be too long now and I think I should be back after the international break if all goes well," Flanagan told Liverpoolfc.com recently.

"It has been frustrating for me but I can't dwell on it. It was tough to pick up the injury in pre-season but I've just got to forget about that now and push on.

"It's going to be tough but I'm more determined than ever. It's a massive season for me and I just can't wait to get back now.

"There's a lot more competition for places, which is good for us. The manager has strengthened the squad with the new signings, so I've got to continue to work hard and then hopefully get a chance."

LFC have signed another of those tricky Spanish kids - Madger Antonio Gomes from Villarreal. 17 years old. Can't find much at all about him but he does have a standard naff teen haircut.

Balague is the biggest spoofer out there.

Balague is the biggest spoofer out there.

He was the first to break the Di Maria story. Definitely had an inside track on that one

Absolutely. He knows as much about what Rodgers wants as you or I...not very much.

Balague is the biggest spoofer out there.

Balague's friendship with Benitez gave him an in at one time.

But with Benitez now away from the English and Spainish leagues he is not as ITK as he once was.

Balague is the biggest spoofer out there.

He's actually gotten a lot better lately, broke the Di Maria deal before anyone. If he has anything on the big Spanish two its usually fairly solid.

Got to admire Balague's brass neck.

Balague also broke the Torres to Chelsea story, and many others. Popular to think of him as a spoofer, but no doubt that he has solid contacts.

Reminds me of Blackadder's firing squad

"I've got to admire your balls..."
    "Perhaps later..."

    :D

Maybe he has got a few exclusives, but some of the stuff he's come out with has just been way off the mark.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,687 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    Balague ain't a spoofer.

he embellishes some of his stories I reckon, but there is no doubt he has contacts. what i mean is, he will sometimes say a transfer is happening, when it's merely at a very early stage. that's not the same as making something up though.

i used to think he was a spoofer, mainly because it was the cool thing to do, but it really isn't true.

Torres, di Maria, and even Falcao, were stories he reported on very early, and they're only recent examples.

Didn't he say Ozil wasn't going to Arsenal. Then a few days later he does. Could be wrong, can't really remember the details tbh

Maybe, but every single journalist out there have made wrong calls, situations change.

Falcao was going to Real all Summer long according to most journalists. Di Maria was definitely singing for PSG. and on and on.

Look at all the exclusive interviews Ballague has done with the Spanish lads. And people still act as if the only contact he ever had was Benitez.

Apologies if posted, but I thought this was a good assessment of the Borini situation:
