Really think class might be pushing it with Blind. Looks like a player with a pretty low ability ceiling who is making the most of what he has.

And on your main point, Blind was the Eredivisie's POTY last year. True, he was nearly let go a couple of seasons back, but the lad was only 22 at that stage and had developed a huge amount in the mean time.

I think the point being made is that if the player that receives the pass blasts the shot wide, the pass is much quicker forgotten. No slight on the quality of a pass.
