I'd call that narrow minded but it's a free world.

You, if you worked in the hire and fire dept of a major company, would give equal attention to an applicant who couldn't be bothered and showed up in a football jersey and trackers as opposed to an applicant who had a shave and came in his best tin of fruit?

    Hilarious.

    Utterly hilarious.

It's a f*cking sad depiction of our backwards country that this thread even exists.

Jesus, she likes girls, not boys. Why does it matter a crap to anyone, except her partner(s).

You don't like homosexuality? You think it's wrong? Guess what, I have some great news for you - unless you want to, you never have to have sex with anyone of the same sex.

    Live and let live.

Yet, the RoT is one of the top threads on Boards and Politics.ie this morning!
The marketing guys must be thrilled with the decision of the judges!! :)

Because the winner of the Rose of Tralee chose to garner free publicity off the back of her being a lesbian.
First we had the "She was dishonest by hiding it" thing, now "She's garnering publicity off it" thing.
    Gold.

Going wildly off topic here but Ron of the Shades does have a bit of a point.

Sadly we live in an image obsessed world and having the situational awareness to know what image is best to present for a specific occasion is often a good indicator of one's suitability for a certain job. Obviously this varies from job to job but it can be a useful yardstick to employ.

I dont think she hid it, I'm sure if she was asked she would have given an honest answer.

The best person would have the wherewithal to come in appropriate attire. That would be one of the basic factors that made him/her the best person.

As far as I can see on Twitter, it's more the gay community making a bigger deal of this than anyone else. Not saying that's a bad thing- I mean it's fortunate timing with the march today and all. And it is great to see people being open minded. But I honestly think most people don't care less either way what the girl does in her private life. And there was no need at all for her to mention it during the competition- it's totally irrelevant.

She is a stunning girl, has a really cool job, well spoken, and is alternative to typical Roses beyond her sexuality with her hair, tattoos, and shorter length dress even. I hope she has a great year.

Dunno if it was mentioned here on this thread already, but as a friend pointed out to me earlier- "Sure wasn't there a Gay presenting the Rose for years before the other presenters, how is this news?!"

Never said she would all I'm saying is I know from personal experience that many lesbians are indeed bisexual and who's to say this girl isn't any different?

I used to be bisexual, then I read this post.

    Your powers are indeed strong.

I don't think you understand how journalism or the sun newspaper works.

The most likely scenario is that the sun got hold of the story, got in contact with her and told her that they were running the story on Sunday regardless of whether she wanted them to run it or not. That's how that particular newspaper operates. It's clickbait.

    Shaking my fcuking head here.

I'm an openly gay man, that doesn't mean I shout about being gay anymore than a straight person shouts about being straight.

If I entered something along the lines of this, I wouldn't mention it unless it was brought up. Why would I just start going on about my sexuality if nobody asked me about it, or nothing lead to me talking about it? It wouldn't be a big enough deal, and there's far more to me than where I like to stick my dick -which is the whole point, I'm not just my sexuality. Although I don't think you understand that.

I made a point in past threads to ignore your ranting insults but i'll make an exception for this just once.if you've truly come to terms with yourself and you truly believe what you are saying here then why do you and your ilk feel the need every year to parade around telling all of society, young and old, exactly where "you stick your dick" as you so so eloquently put it? seems the exact opposite of what you just said...
my post makes you shake your head? well your post turns my stomach

Im more annoyed at the fact that a beautful gay woman wanted to enter this load of bollox in the first place.

AFAIK, she was more prevailed upon rather than wanted to do it. ;)

Or perhaps, she is openly gay, her family & friends know, her fellow contestants know & now thru a carefully orchestrated interview with the cooperation of the rose of tralee committee, everyone else now knows on her terms?

    Bingo!!

Sure look at Sinéad O'Connor back in her heyday in the 1980s. Buzz cut hair, still looked stunning.

People get too hung up about hair !

Probably but that'd only turn me on more...and she wouldn't be the first lesbian either that'd change her tune after a while with me

By your logic you, as an apparent heterosexual male, could be "turned" homosexual "after a while" with a sexually adept gay man.

    Want to change your tune?

If I saw Daithi walking down the street, I'd be thinking "Hmmm... raaaar!"... Good-looking man (sometimes... when he's not Healy Rae-ing it up).
But then he goes and spoils it all by talking.
The OTT boggerama thing is not attractive.

Haven't you just answered your own questions with that last remark?

Seems obvious, there still are intolerant, ignorant cunts out there who'd do anything to have gay people disappear, but since that isn't an option, they settle for taking away their rights and making them as outcast as possible. Those parades are there to fight for rights. Once that happens and homosexuality is treated and seen as 100% equal to heterosexuality, they'll cease to exist -very much like parades and protests during the black movement.

You're nobody to talk about 'ranting insults' since that's all you seem to do on anything gay-related. You and a few select posters here (I see Pad has come along as predicted) have some sort of fascination with homosexuality. It's really starting to make me think.

    Oh FFS!!!! Joyless nonsense
