Jeez, are we going to have an hour and a quarter of the most excruciating detail of how every bugger once met AR?

When is this lad on about ?

Bud didn't sponsor the Derby until the mid 80's and haven't done so in over 20 years.

    EDIT:

He just said five or six years ago.

I could have sworn he started our saying something about the late 60's

Its not the day for that in fairness.

I disagree, you can still remember someone in public life without a one sided story - no problem in mentioning the good, the bad and the ugly. He did lots of good stuff, but lets not forget the other stuff too. I prefer a more balanced remembrance of people

Albert Reynolds was responsible for one of the most politically incorrect comments ever heard in the dail with famous "well that's women for ya" :D
That was my abiding memory of him along with meeting Jack Charlton off the plane when we qualified for USA 94

Fair point but there is always a chance that the negative comments would outweigh the good which I don't think would be fair in Reynolds' case.

Probably the most misquoted thing he never said too.

    Because he never said it.

Albert Reynolds IMO would be one of the better FF's, and is to be admired for his work, and others, to bring about peace in the North but I just can't listen to Joe Duffy for another hour waffling on about a penny. I'll check in and see if the topic changes. I won't be doing Funny Friday either so see you next week

I am in bould form today. First day off in 3 weeks and its pissin it down outside. :( (and Funless Friday looming too).

Anyway, I thought the quote was "This is women now". Just going by memory from his book that I read some years ago now. He spinned it to make it out to be some kind of a compliment.

I must dig it out and find out for sure before I get snappy again. :o

Some of St.Albert's forgotten legacies - the Bombardier bus factory farce in Limerick, passports for investments (some of which went to his pet food factory in Edgeworthstown), and his various shenanigans with Noel 'Ambulance' Hanlon. Funniest moment I can recall concerning Albert was when Gerry Collins pleaded on live TV for him 'not to burst the party'...you couldn't make it up.
