I was looking at random dealers in Dublin and came across this Mercedes-Benz C-Class by chance: www .carzone .ie/search/Mercedes-Benz/C-Class/AUTOMATI/45413976663017990/advert?channel=CARS (Sorry for all the spaces in the link, I don't have 50 posts yet so I cant post links), is it cheap for a Merc? any well known faults? would you recommend to buy this or should I steer away from it? cheers :)

Never liked those, don't think they were particularly well built.

What about something like this A3, cost a little more but it's a year younger and will retain it's resale value a little better too:

Are you restricted to 3 doors and/or auto?

Thanks Bazz26, I always like your feedback about the cars here on Boards :)

No I am not restricted to 3 doors nor to an auto, I prefer automatic cars but can drive both :).
I am looking for a petrol car as I do less than 10K miles a year, most of them are short distances.
Make wise I tend to like Audi, any of the VAG makes bar some Seats as they look awful inside, I don't know much about BMW and Mercs hence why I started this thread. Any more advice is welcome :)

Worth a look at too, a little different to the norm:

A3 is nice in general, but 7,250 for a 9 year old 1.6 asthmatic petrol is laughable, surely its market value is half that. Deprication on that A3 will be huge.

I'm not a fan of the A3 myself but a low mileage auto one will always fetch decent money because it is rare and A3's in general are popular. That 10 year old C Class hatch is not exactly cheap either given it was never really great when new or popular.

Its rare because its appeal is limited, theres a 2008 1.4tsi golf on donedeal for 6.950, mileage is 145k but could have all work done etc.cant link.
