Process to remove block wall supporting concrete floor

I am considering opening the kitchen to sitting room to open plan.

There is a 11ft x 8ft block wall supporting the concrete floor between the upstairs and down. The blocks are 9" by 4" lying on their flat.

I have done this for brick supporting joists numerous times but never with concrete.

With the latter I bassicly shore up the the joists with acros and scaffold planks, knock wall and install steel.

With concrete obviously there's going to be substantial weight that needs to be considered before the steel goes in.

can any of you guys that have done this before set my straight so I can do this safely please

Contact an engineer .Its not a job that you should learn as you go .

I have an engineer coming out next week to see which way the precast slabs are running etc.

I am simply asking is the process similar and whats involved. I would never touch a job like this without getting a structural engineer out

I was told today that 7x2s and acro's are suitable for this. Cheers
