So I'm heading to The US on Wednesday and I'm thinking to bring a couple of hurls for my friend and his daughter.
My friend is Irish but his daughter isn't and i thought it would be nice if he could share some of his culture with his her.

Anyway, what's the policy on bringing them? Are they considered carry-on luggage? I would've thought that they could pose a security risk? Do you have to pay extra to have then stowed somewhere else? Anything else I need to know?

    Thanks

You can't carry them on. If you can fit it in your normal checked bag do that, if you have to check them separately they'll charge you for a second checked bag. They'll probably make you put it on the separate belt with the oversize stuff just because they're a weird shape but they shouldn't charge you extra like with golf clubs or something, hurls aren't quite big enough to be oversized.

we brought some over in checked luggage.
It just about fit in the suitcase but it was a squeeze. But no hassle at the airport.
