Did I hear that right earlier? Is it possible for us to play Man Utd in this tournament? Are they even in the same thing? two groups of 4 apparently, who's in the other one anybody know?

I don't get the urgency with a new lb Enrique is more than good enough. Johnson on the other hand is a big worry for me. Lazy passing, ball watching and doesn't beat his man. A starting RB and ST are the two major priorities right now.

    100% agree with that.

What people probably won't agree with would be my striker choice, id want us to go for Huntelaar.

For RB ideally Coleman but that would be a tough ask. Manquillo on loan looks likely but I don't think I've seen him play

He's had the same time off as Sterling. Sturridge comes across as a player who realy gets his sharpness in games rather than training.

Still don't think he should be judged in pre season. We know what he can do so games just improve his fitness and sharpness for the league start.

LFC: Jones, Johnson, Skrtel, Toure, Enrique, Gerrard, Henderson, Can, Sterling, Markovic, Sturridge

Subs: Ward, Coutinho, Coates, Lucas, Allen, Ibe, Kelly, Coady, Robinson, Lambert, Peterson

Olympiacos: Megyeri, Salino, Abidal, Siovas, Papadopoulos, N'Dinga, Maniatis, Dossevi, Ghazaryan, Saviola, Diamantakos

The squad still looks short of real quality up front. We could do with a big money signing in attack

I know at some stage glen j was very decent but now more so after last season I wonder was it like father ted with Dougal "did you collect crisp packets to become a priest?"

Real Madrid, Man Utd, Roma and Inter in one group

Ourselves, City, Olympiakos and Milan in the other.

Both group winners play in a final at the Met life stadium in Miami

That it is. Not having a go at him just a general observation.

Sterling and Can looking very good here. Markovich looks like he could do with a bit of time in the gym. For a tall lad he looks a very slight and pushed off the ball easily.

Henderson already with his tireless pressing too. Johnson on the other hand looks like hes a mistake away from conceding a goal/getting a second yellow.
Awful pity that second yellow won't result in any suspensions :(

    Never understand this logic.

Firstly Enrique is coming back form a serious injury and secondly we need to build a quality squad with good cover for all positions.

I agree but that's why I said priority. I would be very concerned if we start with johnson at RB in 3 weeks time much more than Enrique starting at lb.

Can the lads that were in here the other day defending Johnson, saying "he isn't as bad as gets made out on here" please come back and do it again because that would be fun.

United, LA Galaxy, Roma and Inter Milan. Winners of each group play the final.

He's a bit dodgy with respect to injuries. He hardly played last season.

We need depth there and a young LB who's happy enough to fight it out until he fully develops, especially when we're sitting on 75m quid, is a bit of a no-brainer.

But we definitely also need a RB.

The one thing I will say about Sturridge that is worrying me slightly is his work rate. I remember I was at a game in Anfield, think we were playing Swansea or someone like that.

Anyways Sturridge and Suarez had just gone on the attack. Sturridge was flagged offside and Suarez was gone getting up from behind the swansea goal after tripping.

So Swansea had restarted play and here was Sturridge strolling back and Suarez flies past him to start chasing down the Swansea back line. Once Sturridge spotted Suarez running past him, he then started it back running.

My worry is that outside of Suarez' obvious ability, its his incessant desire to get the ball back, his desire to win and not let up that we will miss. Sturridge on a pitch seeing his strike partner do that would always have a positive effect. With that gone I am a bit fearful Sturridge will start showing that lazy streak again.

Well I was one of the lads! Obv he was brutal in that half and pretty bad last year, but I live in hope he will just wobble his head and get back on form, I'd have no qualms in a RB upgrade though.

Would love to see Johnson & Torres one on one this year. My head hurts to think of what the result would be.

I make it a year and a half he's been utter **** for now. Has a player ever lost form for that long and regained it? I can't see it :(

Watching this game and I think Liverpool look so dangerous on the counter. There has been a lot of good defending done too, obviously not by Johnson, and I'd say that is hugely important in the managers mind after the amount of goals you conceded last year. I thought Can was a great buy and he is showing up well tonight. I think he could go on to be a Liverpool legend if he stays there and continues to improve over the next couple of years. He certainly has everything that is needed to be a top player.
