    Hi guys.
After over a year of trying and few trips to see gynaecologist in Sligo General I found out that I am not ovulating.
Had the visit today and was told that my day 21 bloods are ok except for my progesterone which was <0.3 and indicate that I did not ovulate this cycle and because my cycles are so irregular doctor thinks I do not ovulate at all.
So he put me on clomid :) 50mg twice a day for days 2-5 of my cycle.
Just waiting for my period to start the clomid.

Is there anyone else currently on Clomid?

PS. I have searched the forum for Clomid threads but most of them were over 2 years old so i hope its ok to make new one?

I think I'll be put on it next cycle. I've to return at the end of the month to see what the test results were, and possibly being put back on it.

I was on it before in June -August 2011, resulting in success on the third month. So hoping for the same success this time. :)

I dont know yet, Pregnancy test done saturday and yesterday still negative . Doc told me to try again in 7 days . the thing is on saturday was supposed to get my period and only had some browns dot and that s it . doc told me it might have been my period and to not take the 3rd round before my next period.

Before getting on clomid i did not ovulate and after my first round, I did ovulate but was disappointed that we didnt conceive.

I am taking 50gr of clomid once a day and metformin (glucophage)

Can I ask why were u given metformin?
I got my glucose tolerance test done (had to drink lucozade ugh) and everything was ok, but im worried about insulin resistance (need to talk to my GP about it). My mum is on glucophage and my granny is on insulin... im also quiet obese and find it hard to lose weight (managed to lose about 8kg since the start of the year). My Thyroid is between 2,3 and 3,4 so normal but a bit high for my liking

Many women with pcos end up with diabetes or can be border line. I've been border line since I was 14. They sometimes put you on metformin and it can really help in many ways even have regular cycles from it. You may also find it easier to loose weight too while on them.

Thanks :) I dont have PCO just dont ovulate at all =/
Might talk to my doctor about that.

Have they ever tested you for it? If not could be something to look for and might explain things for you.. Mine never shows in blood tests but scans show that I have it..

My bloods are fine and i had ONE scan done =/ my GP is an angel he did every possible test for me that he could before sending me to gyne in Sligo General. The gyne in Sligo General are a bit annoying (been there 4 times and only met ONE who actually gave me hope). Mostly blame my problems on my weight and the Implanol i had...
I asked about testing for PCO but they said there is no reason cos my bloods are fine and I dont have any other symptoms like hair growth. Maybe if I was going there private they would do some more... I dont even get any ultrasounds while on Clomid.

Maybe I should push them? I was told if these 3 rounds of Clomid dont work I will get HSG done, or laparoscopy if I lose enough weight (which i probably wont =/ )

I wasn't diagnosed for years because I had no symptoms.. There's so many with it we ain't all the same and as I said my bloods were fine

I think gyne's ain't personal people as in where someone they treat they forget our struggles and feelings

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54 ✭✭Pam_x_Pam

I know what you mean... wel at least after year and a half of struggle I got some treatment... hopefully it works!
I will talk to my GP about PCO...

To be honest the first GP i see for my scan didnt tell me anything regarding those cell, she just told me you might have pcos that s it . So i went to another GP that did a blood test with the result she refer me to fertility doc straigh away.

It was my fertility doc who prescribe metformin to me. I have my blood test done and am not diabetique or borderline.

unfortunatly not pregnant this month, clomid can me your period late

    oh yes forget to mention.
I went for a scan first as i had pain in my belly but doc couldnt find anything appart the some cells on my ovaries.
I show my scan to two GP, none of them thought those cells would be a big problem to have a baby but their answer didnt convince me for some reason so i went to a 3rd doc who decide to do further test.
I saw my fertility doc as a private patient as there is one year waiting list in dublin for the public.
She saw my scan and did another one and she says it is for sure i have PCOS.
I know it cost me a lot of money but now as soon as i have a queries i send an email to the doc that will answer in the next few hour.

I did a scan after my first round but it was not to see if clomid was working. We did however saw a follicule .
The blood test should say if you are ovulating or not

    Hi Guys,

So glad I stumbled on this thread. I have kinda the same issue (low progestrone) - but I know everyone is different. I had the blood tests done twice with the GP (who has been fab) to confirm that it is low.
I was waiting on the public list over six months but then found out that the waiting list is usually 14 months. I have decided to go to the OB as a private patient and have my appointment next week.
The GP suggested that I may be put on Clomid, but this will be up to the OB as the GP can't prescribe it.
Just wondering what to expect at the appointment next week. I hope that the consultant will do a scan to check ovaries, confirm that they are fine and then perscribe the Clomid so I can get bumped up!

Not getting pregnant SUCKS and is it me or is EVERY OTHER WOMAN pregnant!

    Phew...nice to share!

Oh I feel your pain, everyone around me are pregnant! And we are just about to start third round of Clomid after chemical pregnancy on last round.
I am going to OB in hospital and he is doing all the tests and giving me meds and that and I only waited 2 months for appointment and I am public. Got prescription for Clomid and had to bring it to my GP to be put on medical card prescription and he had no problem with doing it.
Is your problem not Ovulating or just low progesterone? I didnt ovulate at all my progesterone was <0,3 for two cycles so they decided to start Clomid and first cycle I did ovulate progesterone was 20.1 :) I am on 100mg days 2-5

    FX

    Hi Pam x Pam,

Sorry to hear about the chemical pregnancy, that must have been really hard on you both. Glad to hear things are looking better for you now and FX it'll be third time lucky for you.

Really nervous about the appointment next week, can you tell me what happened at your first one so I know what to expect.

Hi i know what u feel . At my work everybody are pregnant. I just start my 4th cycle of clomid but it is higher dose now.
The first appointment i didnt have a scan bec the gp did it before. She explains usually how she works and possibilities. She will ask ur husband to go to has his sperm check too.

On first one I had bloods done for rubella and oestradiol... then was asked to do Day3 and Day 21 and Glucose Tolerance Test at my GP office. After that I went back and got Clomid, and was told to do sperm check for the SO..... but I was never told I need a referral for such! So make sure they give you a referral! I rang Merion Clinic in Dublin and Rotunda and both told me I need a referral from the doctor.... So We are going back in October and probably will be given out about the fact that its not done yet but its their fault really...
Thats about it really... It took us about 6 months before gettin Clomid from OB in hospital... I have appitment every 3 months. Also they want me to lose weight so they can do laparoscopy but I think they will do HSG instead...

Anyways I dont know what the doctors are like in your place, but I met different ones every time and only ONE was nice to me,,, rest of them were pretty much tellin me I am too fat to get pregnant and my previous MC was due to my weight and its all my fault. Really put you dont dont they?
