I've been having a strange performance issue with the Primera recently. On some trips it's fooking flyin'!! As in it's actually faster than it should be. Definitely still not fast though but faster than it ever was before and probably more so than it's supposed to be. Then, on other trips it'll be normal but under 2000RPM it runs really really rough for a couple of seconds after the power is put on. Particularly noticeable after gear changes. It feels like a learner driver bunny hoping but I'm driving smoothly… This happened once before about a month ago and was accompanied by a C.E.L but after the next time I started the car the problem was gone and the light went back off. No light at all this time.

Anyone have any ideas where to look?

When it was just the rough running on acceleration I was leaning towards a TPS giving a bad/intermittent reading but not so sure now. Once the C.E.L went out there was no code left :(

Would anyone have any brake cleaner going for cheap? I want to use it as a degreaser for the 900's engine bay

If you can get your hands on it, bilt Hamber surfex is an unreal degreaser.
    How expensive is brake cleaner?

Looking at ebay here, it's about 25 quid delivered for 5 litres, stick it in a spray bottle and you're away

How much feckin grease do you have that requires 5 litres.
    Cheapest option is petrol

Yeah probably but i don't want to wreck the ground underneath, it's bad enough. also the grease/crap/ is about 3-4 inches thick at the back of the bay around the mounts, driveshaft tunnels are fairly caked too, steering rack is as well, I'm nearly through the can of stuff i got, we'l see what i can get my hands on anyways

Checked out that stuff on cleancar, its an extra 1.45, for 5L delivered might as well try it!

    Update on the Astra situation.

My friend managed to get the guy's address, and texted his address to him (on the phone that the other guy "found") and got a few friends to send it too (just the address, nothing else at all). A few minutes later he got a call from this guy in a panic, some words were exchanged and they have come to a deal. He will refund €700 at 6 o'clock this evening.

    I'm absolutely delighted.

Was it bought as being from a dealer, or privately?

A guy who buys and sells stuff. He's not a registered trader. Donedeal told us that he had placed more than a few car ads this year. He knew he was getting into deep ****e and agreed to pay up. Wise of him.

So I had 2 passengers in the car yesterday, both sitting on the passenger side which resulted in me realising something about my new awesome wheels...they rub...quite substantially with extra weight on one side of the car! Oh well, I'll just take out the rear seats I guess...

Having spoken to the seller this of and being informed it "doesn't need any work" (I can upload the text, also the one asking for more photos) I arranged a day off work and drove 200km.

It drives okay, but a panel beater could give a full day to put it properly right, and that's before you even open a spray booth.

Waste of a day, and a half tank

    </rant>

How are you all anyways. It's been a while :)

To be honest I wouldn't be worried about the condition of the body work. Use it as a haggle point alright, but at that end of the market I'd be more concerned about what it's like under the bonnet.

That car that kaiserD's friend bought looks fine from the outside, but no point having flawless paint and body if the engine is fubarred.

There were dents on every panel. I want a car, not a project.
