That the stage in the Olympia is closer to Dame St than it is to the Liffey. I always just persumed it was the other way around. Can't believe for all those years I was standing / sitting in there, I was facing in a totally direction than I thought I was. I may need to seek help in order to overcome this mindfcuk.

    1. That a certain person I know is not a true friend and proved it last week.
    2. That the Israeli and Palestinian governments are as bad as each other.
    3. That the summer is very empty after the world cup is ended.

Only realised a couple of weeks ago that subject to license printed on tickets isn't there to warn "this event serves alcohol so only over 18s will be admitted" but rather "this event may not go ahead because we don't actually have permission for it yet".

    -.-

Work cup has thought me that people do get offended if I call Netherlands holland.

I've lived with a few Dutch people and every one of them said "Holland" rather than "The Netherlands". I asked them why, because, like yourself, I was always under the impression that Dutch people didn't like it when you said "Holland" and the general response was "Eh, it's shorter". They really didn't seem to care.

wall clock in the kitchen has roman numerals, and only noticed this morning that it reads

I II III IIII V VI etc

always thought '4' was 'IV' in RN, but seems exceptions are made in the case of clocks (fair bit of conjecture about the reasoning)

    just never noticed it

I bet a friend of mine that a few years ago, and another friend "wanted a piece".. I won a bit of cash that day :D.

Apparently it is believed it was a mistake, and has been kept that way ever since..

Supermarkets here do not have own brand versions of kit-kats.

You commonly get own-brand twix, bounty, mars, snickers, even milky way, but no kitkats I can think of.

I think Aldi do an own-brand version of kit kats. Can't think what they're called at the moment.

Right, I rarely am in there.

Seems its a trademark thing, I heard the bounty shape is protected somehow too, might be the sort of swirly design of the chocolate on top.

Aldi gives Kit Kat shape mark a break
Posted March 23, 2010 by POF

Kit Kat’s chocolate wafer biscuit is set to become a registered trade mark, after Nestle and Aldi agreed to resolve an appeal from a decision of the Trade Marks Office not register the confectionery’s finger shape as a trade mark.
Aldi had initially given Nestle ‘the big finger’, successfully opposing registration of the shape mark on the basis it was not capable of distinguishing the food giant’s chocolate-coated wafer biscuits. Nestle appealed the decision but the parties asked the Federal Court of Australia to allow Nestle’s appeal so the trade mark could be registered (Societe Des Produits Nestle S.A. v Aldi Stores (A Limited Partnership) [2010] FCA 218).
It will be interesting to see if Nestle enforces its shape trade mark registration, which has a priority date of 9 Febuary 2000, against others using a similar shape trade mark and if so, the outcome of any infringement action.

The aldi one seems to be called super knicks, in germany anyway

I've found that as well. Did they say "Holland" when speaking English, but Nederland when speaking Dutch?

I always thought they were doing it as a concession to English speakers, who tend to say Holland - they'll explain that "Holland" is not the same as The Netherlands, but once they've made their point they're happy to go along with "Holland".

You won't die if you use milk a day or two past it's sell by date but you are in danger of dying if you use the last of the milk and put the carton back in the fridge. Seriously, I want to kill you

I take it you never heard him speaking.

Saying that, until recently I didn't know Richard Marx is American. For some reason I always thought he was from one of the Scandinavian countries.
