Back already? wow, if he gets to the same level as before then its a definite signing considering how important he is to Van Gaal's system

Nowadays...without any glitches an ACL can be as little as 4-5 months out.

I'm confident we will sign Vidal , LVG thiks very very highly of him and has said he thought about signing him twice before , I think he will be LVG top target this summer...

Could be ready for a medical in a few weeks then? :P

He's probably just back training on his own in a pool or on a bike trying to get strength back into the knee, its normal to be back so soon after that surgery doing light training, wouldnt expect him back on a pitch until closer to end October

It's actually not that inconceivable...obviously though he'd be untried in a competitive situation.

Really is amazing to think that lads can be back so quickly from cruciate injuries nowadays.
I missed 17 weeks a few years back due to a problem with a chipped bone in my hand!

If United won't pay 34million for Vidal it is back to the inept penny pinching crap that fked us up last summer.

Am I the only one who is thinking probably we announced adidas deal at the wrong time? We should have waited till the transfer window is over, now every club knows we are loaded (even before this deal too) and now we have to pay much more for our targets.

Don't these things have to be announced immediately after they are done? It's probably more beneficial to the club in regard to shares to have it announced at this time. I'm sure there's logic behind it, if it's obvious to us, you can be sure someone at the club flagged it.

There was no major mentioning that united were in for him in the first place, but if the fee is 34 million, they should be. It could be just posturing to dispel any attempts from Juve to try and wrangle 50 million out of us

We are back to the vista of the inept overspending penny-pincher of last summer again, just - what? - two weeks after United spunked off >£60M on two players?

    Man alive...

Pretty sure they need to announce something like this because it affects the price of our stock. Is there some rule that states that?

You're being very naive if you think that Man United wouldn't pay £34 Million on Vidal.

We should set up a poll to see whether more people think Woodward is a penny-pincher or an over-spender.

Make sure it's public too, and allow multiple options to be selected.

It's blatantly obvious some journalists are now covering their asses. And what reads better than an ass cover? One which winds people up and plays off a story they spent last summer peddling too.

The money we spent on Fel, Mata, Herrera and Shaw....and people think we have a problem with 35m for Vidal? Really? This the day after we signed a 75m a year deal from Addias and are now literally swimming in the green again?

"Penny wise, pound foolish" as an option for the haters.

No, I'm simply commenting on the fact every paper has us pulling out of the deal cause we won't pay the 34million or so Juve want.

As i said: IF that is the case, it is penny pinching ineptness that I simply can't understand.

Is this like one of these twitter accounts where you delete the incorrect quote when the news breaks so you look like a shrewdy?

The process is a negotiation, if as has been mentioned in the press Vidal wants the move and has agreed personal terms, then the advantage is with Utd who will then haggle over the price, hopefully it gets done, hes on holiday until end of July so no rush.

There is that risk but because we're a plc, suppressing positive news like that would be a complete no no.

I do enjoy the laugh everyone gets from the "we are not signing" posts but I'm letting that to one side as I need to discuss things properly now and again.

Someone hit the nail on the head earlier in the tread - United seem to have completly cut down on leaks and I reckon that the press are making most of it up. I like it this way - everything is ticking along under the radar. I'm sure we are interested in Vidal but that doesn't necessarily mean that we will get him. I don't think we are on the verge of getting him, I don't think the deal is suddenly dead and I don't think we are baulking at Juve's fee.

As of now, Herrera and an existing player will be our midfield. If a MF doesn't arrive, then c'est la vie. Perhaps LVG prefers Strootman and is waiting until January. Who knows?

99% of the news out there right now is sh!te. I have confidence in the club to get the right players. Sh!te about United sells papers faster than truth about any other club. We have lost the plot in recent days, to the point that we are beginning to believe the Daily fcuking Mail.

*throws bucket of cold water over everyone*

Mata, Shaw, Herrera (especially). Done very quickly when the time came. I expect signings to progress like this under LVG.

    Good times ahead lads :)

But isn't it obvious that the tabloids are acting in the exact same manner as Twitter rumours.

One ITK posts something, it starts to do the rounds, every other ITK around starts to go with the same story. All in the hope that it is genuine and it makes them look like they know what's really happening.

One tabloid posts a vague story on their website. It starts to do the rounds, then every other tabloid starts to go with the same story. All in the hope that it is genuine and it makes them look like they know what's really happening.

Mark my words, if one tabloid comes out in the next 24 hours with a story about Vidal being very close to a United move, they will all be running with it within 2 or 3 hours.

It is far more likely that he either intimated he won't join or that LvG has told Woodward to look elsewhere than us not willing to part with the money. The club has been willing to part with cash the last 12 months without issue so its a bit unfair to say it could be penny pinching ineptness.

Utd have cut down on leaks but there will be times that the leak info that may be beneficial, they could have given the info that theyre not willing to pay 34m to the press as a negotiation tactic, Juve are desperate for money to strenghten their squad, the fact that a relatively straight forward Evra move hasnt gone ahead would suggest to me that it all could be done hopefully as one deal.

why is it every time United fail in pursuit of a player, it is because the player rejected us and not because of something United decided to do, or not do.

Fabregas - ah sure he probably rejected us, thats why we didn't bid.
Kroos - don't beleive every journo who says the deal was basically done. We never had a chance, thats why we didn't get him.
Vidal - far more likely he rejected us that United decided to pinch the pennies.

PaddyPower have United at 1\8 to be Vidal's next permanent club. For that reason alone I am confident a deal will be done shortly.

Thiago was around 1-12 last summer!

And just some food for thought.

We wanted a CM who is strong, aggressive and can play ball from the back. We signed Herrera. He is very impressive and fits our needs very well.

We wanted a LB to replace the aging Patrice Evra. We signed Luke Shaw, one of the most promising full backs in World football.

We just signed a fcuking ridiculous shirt deal and we just signed a new sponsor. This will free up massive amounts cash in the years to come, meaning we will compete aggressively with our rivals without FFP hanging over us.

We will have killer fcuking kits for the next ten years.

LVG! Holy crap! Hard as nails, but could bring out the best in players currently seen as castoffs. Also, he has the highest testicle weight:body weight ratio in football.

We have Juan Mata! I sometimes still do not believe this.

Hell, we even have a great fixture list to start the season and, with no CL, we have plenty of time to rest our stars instead of sending them to Klapakistan during the week.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone else we sign between now and August is a massive bonus. If we have to start with Carrick/Fellaini etc for a few months, then so be it. You can be sure we will be in for someone in January.

There is so much to be happy about, and I refuse to ruin it by worrying about journalists and their integrity.

Picture of player in kit. Then I'm happy (no Mikel talk please!).

    Onwards and upwards!
